Seconded. I love my Wii, but there just isn't much in the way of great games still. I find myself using my 360 more and more as time goes on thanks to the awesome online capablities and you can't go far wrong with the more traditional games either.
I voted 360 as I assumed you didn't have a PS3. If you have a PS3 I'd say Wii as the 360 is too similar.
If you don't have a PS3 then the Wii is a great second console but it's too centered around it's unique control method.
The coming 360 titles look superb plus it has a great existing library.

IMO It depends if you're more the pick up and play gamer or the dedicated to fps/sports games and play them continually...
If you pick up and play for short bursts - Wii
If you're dedicated - 360.
I've only played Resident Evil 4 on the Wii all the way through (12 hours), no other game I can stand playing for more than 30 minutes at a time (some far far less).
360, I can play games for hours, Earth Defence Force for 55 hours! (!!!)
The opinion might change when Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Kart Wii comes out, but again that's Nintendo's lineup which generally always 0wns..
Although saying all that, the 360 has the arcade which is far better at short bursts of play, but they generally turn into years on end (Geometry Wars Evolved and now Robotron 2084!)
I'd hold out for the 360 Elite.
360 if you want to play games.
Wii if you want your wife playing 'ball and stick' all the time instead of making the tea.
Remember that if you get a 360 it will break and you're have to send it back to get fixed, which will take up to a month at a time. Mine is getting fixed for a 3rd time, and has been with MS for 3 weeks now.

if i had to choose now, i'd still say 360, my arm gets tired quickly and the Wii seems mostly party games. great if you are constanlty having a party, not if you are not.
i may get a wii for a 2nd machine once a few more games come out that i want but at present its too party games orientated and i get tired arms quickly.

Hopefully work properly.
Seriously though, it's got a bigger harddrive and has HDMI. Not much else.
360 definatley.
there's barely any good games for the Wii.
Definitely a 360 and then a Wii as a 2nd console if you want one.

Get a Wii and then see the outcome of the 360 v PS3 war.

Agree with this (but not the tired arms bit). Voted 360. It has a much better range of games.
I'm actually tempted to sell my Wii, I've only had it a fortnight but theres not much on the radar apart from Mario Galaxy, Nights and Zak and Wiki.
The E3 press conferance didn't fill me with much hope for the future either.

360 will probably brake on you within the 12 month warranty but the wii has nothing on it to really wow after the initial novelty of the controller wears off.just my 2 pence worth anyway.
I bought a Wii while my X360 was in for repair. Now my X360 is back, I'll doubt I'll use the Wii. Other half and kids still like it, and it's good fun when you have people around, but for me it's X360 all the way.
I found buying the Wii made me appreciate the X360 a whole lot more. I think I had started to take Hi-Def visuals for granted.
Another console, so you already have one?
The Wii and 360 aren't really comparable, so it depends what you like doing. Try them both out and decide yourself.

so we can create our own polls now..? :suspect:
If you have a PS3, then get a Wii. If not, get a 360.
thanks all.
i own a xbox at the moment which is loaded with XBMC but since i have gotten a dvd player with usb and ext hdd, it never gets used and which is why im selling it. i did own a xb360 a while ago but again, played it for odd 30 mins and never much. use pc for mainly FM2007 and FPS's as cannot use a controller for them no matter how much i try.i just cant beat the keyboard/mouse combo.we got my dad a wii for his 60th and he loved it and so did me and the lass so i may opt for one of them. and the fact that a new mortal kombat game is coming out for it. i am very much a lets play with mates kind of console owner so wii may get used more.
i may then get a 360 second hand if i sell my other stuff.

the Wii seems mostly party games.
Unless there are more games than I'm aware of there's only 2 "party" games, Rayman and Wario. I can't think of any genre that's over represented. If your arms are tired you must be doing something wrong, I use less energy with the Wii controller than normal.
I've only had it a fortnight but theres not much on the radar apart from Mario Galaxy, Nights and Zak and Wiki.
What about the games already out?
In the future you've got SSM:Brawl, Metroid, Guitar Hero 3 etc.
You must be 'special' - I haven't got that option... :(

Paper Mario is good but it's not out here.
In the future you've got SSM:Brawl, Metroid, Guitar Hero 3 etc.
I never liked Smash Brothers or Metroid on the GC, so not expecting much from them. Hopefully Metroid will suprise me but I hold no hope for another Nintendo Beat-em-Up.

Well, unless you can find a £199 deal inc a decent game - I got one at the beginning of July in store at Woolworths with Eledees, Dixons were doing packages inc Resident Evil - i'd suggest buying the console for £179.99 and looking online for best prices for games.
http://www.***********.co.uk/
shows Amazon, HMV and Game with console in stock.
http://uk.gamestracker.com/wii/
is a good site to compare online prices

Nope. Make sure its not been OPENED (seals intact) and it hasnt been BANNED from xbox live (hacked).
MS now give 3 years warrenty so dont worry about getting it fixed once it breaks. New ones are apparently sorted tho how many unsorted ones still in the channel who knows.

Ive just got a Wii. While its good, in the two days ive had it and the little play ive had, i cant see the gimmicky side of it.. Ive been dying to play resident evil 4 for a while. It looked like the developers had taken a different approach, really eerie and more free roaming/better camera etc (i hated the original games but they just looked fun!).
Bought RE4 today and had a play... CRAP. Isnt that much different from the other titles really. Stopping to shoot, the controls just dont feel natural. It hasnt won me over to the wii...
if anyone wants to sell there wii's..........;)

Maybe some 360 fans are a tad jealous because Microsoft doesn’t give a **** about them and only care about the money, so they have to vent their anger on a company that may well overtake them in the console wars (and let’s forget the whole been out a year thing). If Nintendo released such a failure riddled console, it would have been recalled but please continue with your ‘the Wii has no good games’ which is wrong, ‘It’s only party games’ and which is wrong ‘It’s a fad’ ooops wrong again. It makes me laugh

To me the Wii is the culmination of several generations of novelty controller:
Dreamcast had Bass Fishing reel and Maraccas
PS2 had a weird golf controller
GC had Bongos
Wii has evolved into all of them, and my only thought is that each of those prior novelties was great while it lasted, but after the initial appeal had warn off, thye just sat there in the bottom of the wardrobe screaming "WASTE OF MONEY!" at me every time I open it and see them all sat there!
Now I see the problem, if you believe that (and in previous threads I have named a good 20 – 30 great games on the Cube) why on earth did you get a Wii and then start moaning about it?
would you rather I praised it even though I'm so far, unimpressed with my purchase?
It's my opinion and it might make other people question whether a purchase is necessary. Maybe if I'd read a few less fanboy posts then I might have been privvy to the fact that there's practically nothing worth playing atm.
I'm not trolling, just saying I don't think it's worthy of the hype.

I was a Nintendo fan until the GameCube - complete and utter waste of money that was, and I won't be back with them any time soon (although the missus has a DS which I appreciate).
The movey controller thing only served to alienate me further, and the TV adverts just add weight to my already made decision. No thanks.
The 360 on the other hand has reinvigorated my love of gaming (and my launch unit has never so much as stuttered yet).
I've used it more than any console since the SNES.
Only one choice IMO - Xbox 360.

I'd wager a very large amount that the next lot of Microsoft and Sony consoles will use motion sensing controllers. (Bill Gates had admitted as much recently)
Dismiss the wii all you like (The AAA games are slow in coming but the first year of the 360 was worse. Graphics so far are nothing to write home about) but the controllers far from a novelty and will be the blue print for future generations of console controllers.

Uh the money there shedding hand over fist to subsidise their gamers instead of Nintendo who are making actual real profit..?
Get a Wii, and then later a 360 as a second console. That's what I've done anyway. Both are excellent consoles that compliment each other perfectly.

Just to point out that M$ had a motion sensing controller out over 10 years ago, and Sony had one out over 5 years ago.......so to be fair, it's not really anything that new, it's just been refined!
Dismiss the wii all you like (The AAA games are slow in coming but the first year of the 360 was worse.
On the contrary, the first 12 months saw the release of some very very good 360 games! PGR3, Oblivion, GRAW etc.....whereas the Wii has a freebie sports game (albeit a very fun one), and Zelda (which is also admitedly very good), but very little else.
Graphics so far are nothing to write home about) but the controllers far from a novelty and will be the blue print for future generations of console controllers.
Personally, I think the Wii will do well all the time people with SD tv's outnumber those with HD tv's, mainly as there's no appreciable jump in quality between Wii and 360 on a SD tv. However, I don't expect any significant jump in gfx quality from the Wii during it's lifespan as it's pretty much a known quantity to start with.......I have no doubt that in only a few years Nintendo will release an updated more powerful Wii for the HD market, and at that point I may jump back onboard.

My problem with the wii isnt so much the controllers but how thats all people go on about. I want to play games, and dont really care how I control them so long as I can, if you see what I mean.
A lot of people in the wii threads, (and I make all my gaming decisions based upon what I read here) went on about how boring gaming had become, with just new graphics and more complicated games, and the new controllers being a breath of fresh air and the like.
I dont think gaming had become stale or boring and the first year of the 360 was way ahead . Oblivion, Condemned, PGR3, GRAW and so on. Of course, if your bored of those sorts of games, it is going to influence your choice of console. I'm bored of mario/zelda et al, as that was 90's gaming for me. I dont want to play any more cartoon platformers. I want realistic, too-complicated-for-the-wife WAR games and stuff. :dork:

The Wii in it's first year will have Zelda, Metroid, Mario galaxy,Paper Mario, Smash brother, Soul calibur legends, Battalion Wars, Resident Evil (x2) MySims ( Don't laugh hardcore gamers - It's gonna sell millions) out in it's first year so it's a fair match to the first year of the 360.

Personally speaking, I love the fact that both the 360 & Wii together cater to just about all of my gaming sensibilities - I wouldn't be without either.

To be fair, there is more available on the Wii than that. RE4 has been given a new lease of life with the controls, Mercury Meltdown Revolution and WarioWare: Smooth Moves are good titles. The virtual console is a revelation to many. Plus the console has only been out for getting on 8 months in Europe.
Third party publishers have been surprised by the success of the Wii but will start getting on board. It is also foolish to compare the two consoles directly - personal preferences aside, they ultimately complement each other rather than compete.
Have all the Wii-owning whingers sold their machine or just keeping them in the hope something they fancy comes out?
360 pushes my buttons, but I wouldn't mind owning a Wii at some point. My only fear is I'd becomes one of the moaners if the 'gimmick' wears off.

I was a wii owning whinger, and I sold mine as it didn't get used. To be fair to it, it is a very nice piece of kit, which is brilliant when you have friends over, but there just weren't enough games to take my fancy as a lone gamer, and you really do need to be prepared for the last gen type gfx.
I have no doubt that plenty of games will be rushed through for the machine in lieu of the numbers being sold, but I'm afraid Ultra Paper Mario 12 and Super Mega Metroid 7 really don't tickle my fancy any more.......that's not to say that they aren't to anyone else's taste, just not mine!

Lol, classic maybe you should ask the other Mods if they have a picture of that.
I've been gaming for nearly 25 years and i know what i like and don't, no matter what people or review say to the most point i ignore them.
Every game i buy is a blind buy and through all those years only one has stuck in my mind as **** and that was 'Earth Command' on the CDi but it was only a fiver so thats fine.
For me, FPS belong on the PC and they are pretty much the same now and my other Fav being RTS also belong on the PC, for my console i go with something different (that you cant get on a PC) and i share Nintendo's vision on creating different games were the basis is fun.

Well, that's the big differential though!
Wii = "fun", whilst enjoyable, I also find it short lived.
PS3 & 360 = "imersive", whilst I find many of the games wholey imersive, I also find that "fun" isn't a word I'd use to describe the majority of the games.
So really it's horses for courses, and depends on exactly what you want from your gaming.
I think it is best to wait until Sony and Nintendo have had their first year before judging who had the best titles in the opening 12 months game wise.
