Hi folks
Hoping someone can help a mate, he's had his 16 months and the laser has gone. A Sony appointed engineer has said that this is a common fault!!!
Can anyone back this up?
TIA

Had mine for 20 months now and had no probs. Prolly fail now I said that. :p
I had my sony 536 for just 3 months when the laser broke and because i had it chipped , my warranty was void, so it cost me £90 pound for a new lens then last week the laser broke again, so in 12 months ive had to replace 2 broken lasers, ill never buy a sony dvd player again
:(

Yeap, a common problem on recent sony models (from x2x to x3x range when sony went back to "cheaper" single lens drives).
Usually about £80ish to fix, and dependant on your opinion if its worth fixing or not, considering new machines (NS300, etc) are only double this now if you shop around.
