tannoy av mx4 speaker pack..opinions?

as above really,what do they sound like?ive read some reviews where they slag of the vinyl covering..but can live with that if they sound good...ill be using them for dvd's and cds...or should i stay with my Celestion F30 fronts F10 rears and F35 centre..Its just that i have the chance to change them...the wife dosent like the colour:rolleyes: as they only had them in dark apple,and she wanted maple:( ....i foolishly thought they'd be ok...
so i may have to change brands...anyway what do you think..

They have had some good reviews, but theres been cases in the past when they have had less then perfect finishes. Although in the last year or so the build quality has gone up to the standard you`d epect at this price point! Certainly no problems with sound though...

I've got this set connected to a Yamaha ax620 and a LG 3350 player.

Personally I think they sound great...for medium/small rooms you can get away without a sub, as the mX4's handly it well, as do the mX1's at the rear.

The centre's heavy(thick sheilding plate!), and quite large so top of telly might be a problem (its not on my Tosh 28W8DB)

The only problems I can think of is that the 4 and 1's are rear ports which might make positioning hard in some cases (the mX3's and mXR's are front ports, but less powerful)

As for build quality I can't see/feel any problems...although mine are missing spikes for the mX4's...none in the box for some reason:(

How much would you pay for the set? The top bargain currently seems to be the Mission Cinema 7 pack. Worth £800, its currently on sale at places like Richer Sounds for £400.

As always, listen before you buy, but £400 is the next best thing to stealing this set :)

Note for CJB110,

If you still have the polystyrene packaging check under the base piece for a recess into which they place the spikes in a plastic bag. I thought mine were missing but I found them only after a lot of searching !

Agree with Crash.I also thought my R2s had no spikes till i looked under the packing. :o

checked all of that...saw the tape that should have held the bag in polystyrene recess, but no luck:(
