Okay, technically this is PC software but I think the majority of people this is aimed at post here:

My bandmate told me about this. I think they were developing it commercially and something happened that made them just put it out at a cheap licence. Or maybe it was just designed that way.

Either way, it's under $40 for the home enthusiast, and just under $200 if you're doing it commercially.

Joe uses Pro-Tools all the time to produce the band's music and he tends to record us live on a very old tiny Sony Laptop (so old it only has USB 1.1) but for that he used to use Nuendo. However, Reaper's got such a small footprint he was able to record, mix down and master our last session from his laptop. He's totally been converted which is a good sign.

Anyway, I'm guessing the vast majority of us home nuts are using :nono: copies of legit software or making do with half-arsed free versions; with the pound as strong as it is, this should be worth a punt.

Yes this DAW is getting a lot of talk recently. Im waiting for the Mac version though.

This one looks good http://www.mackie.com/products/tracktion3/splash.html not quite as cheap, but not expensive either.

Looks pretty good value to me, feature wise. Not too keen on the look of the actual interface, but I've noticed alot of the new DAWs do seem to all be going with the 'flat' and colourful layout.

Anyway, I'll be sticking with Sonar for now. Can't be arsed to learn a new DAW, took me long enough to learn about Sonar :)
