View Full Version : Freeview - Using a TV without a SCART socket

An older relative of mine is looking for Freeview, but to keep their existing TV.

The TV is very old, and doesn't have a SCART socket.

I believe I would need to purchase a freeview box with a RF modulator (not a RF loop through), but I cannot find any 'cheap' boxes that include these.

Does anyone know of any cheap ones, or whether some sort of Scart conversion cable would work ?

Thanks
Daniel

Does the relative have a VCR?

No, just the TV.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I was hoping for a cheapish box with it built in, as that on its own costs more than a freeview box :(

Anyone know of any cheapish boxes with it built in ?

Thanks
Daniel

i have a pioneer DBR-TF100GB - it has coaxial output, you might get a cheap one on eBay (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-5826355)

I think thats going to be your problem, finding a cheap Freeview box with a modulator. I know the old Nokia ones did and most original On Digital ones did.

As thetope suggested maybe eBay (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-5826355)

Thanks - I'll keep looking out.

I've put a wanted ad in the wanted section on this site, so I will see if anyone responds.

Thanks again for your help,

Daniel

If it comes to it and you need a quick cheap solution and you do have a old VCR laying about you could use that to modulate the scart signal.
