View Full Version : Final Fantasy R2/4
Have just reviewed Final Fantasy R4 for DVD Times (Check out review link in my sig) and it looks set to match exactly the R2 version out next week.
I liked the film, and thought that the impressive visuals shot themselves in the foot, by becoming too much of a priority for the audience over the scripting.
Anyone like/dislike the film?
I bought the R4 2 disc from DVDCrave for a little over £11. All I have watched is the "outtakes" and the Thriller homage.
Very impressive, though I never got to see it at the cinema. Egad, I might not even like it!
I must stop impulse buying!!!
Boink!;)
I thought it looked absolutely marvellous, but the movie was dreadful.

i agree on script being second priority... i felt this could have been a truly great film, if it didn't feel so Hollywood in places. It really should have taken a bit more influence from the game's storylines. I personally would have liked to see some guy with a big sword summoing spells and killing Dragons with earthquakes and the likes.
Worth watching for the absolutely amazing CGI. It's a shame Sqaure's film dept have gone bust, 'cos i reckon they could have done some cool stuff after a few more films.
-- who thought the last minute looked and sounds gorgeous? and which other sick sod fanices Aki?
I thought the film was very boring and had action scenes taken from the 'how to make sci-fi films' book. The dvd itself is also over-rated IMHO, there's only so many times you can see some animatics and production drawings. Everybody on the extras is creaming themselves over the visuals.
I'm glad it bombed.

i downloaded this on DivX (yeah iknow, i know) too see if it is worth buying on DVD.
it did look fantastic, and the first 10 mins blew me away with gfx and music, then it went downhill. I didnt even understand what it was about (maybe im dumb)
maybe i need to watch it again.
