Ok, I've got Sky but want to move my box, but the cables from my dish aren't long enough (I have Sky+). Basically all I'm asking is, is it easy enough to buy new cables and replace the ones that are there? I could do with replacing one of them anyway as the screwy thing on the end is a bit loose. Also, where would I get the cable from? Don't really want to get Sky to do it as they'll try charging me £60. Also, making up the cable is also a handy thing to be able to do. Cheers in advance for any help.
Cable can be got from B&Q (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/tclick.php?id=30372&mid=483) or Maplin (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-10297371) and many other places, you just want Sat-grade (decent) coax. The connectors are F-Type and just screw on to a trimmed cable (see the one you have loose). You could just get some F-Type couplers and make some extension cables up.

Hmmm, I'll have to have a proper look when I get home, not at home now. But I think I tried to screw it back on and it seemed to be too wide for the wire or something. If I can just extend it that would be good I guess, save messing about with the LNB side of things. Do Maplin (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-10297371) do extender things as well?
I helped my Dad extend their cables - got a little kit from B&Q which had the F-type connectors in to make an extension. He already had some cable but you can obviously pick that up too.
Easy job - as long as you make sure your connections are good. You can use the signal strength/quality checker via the Sky box to see how you've done!
Yes, F-Type couplers.
If the one that was loose won't go back on, it is probably due to the cable giving way - try trimming it back and screwing the F-Type back on (narrow end).
To prep a cable for a screw on F-type, you need to trim it so that the core is sticking out about 1-1.5cm and then fold the braiding over the sheath so that the F-type screws over the sheath traping the braiding.

Cheers for the info, I'll give it a look over tonight and get some stuff from Maplin to try and extend it, see how I do. Cheers for the help.
