There must be a problem with the website, as the buy button isn't working for anything on the site. It was working earlier, so probably just a temporary glitch.

According to someone on popbitch Fopp has just gone bankrupt. How reliable? Buyer beware and all that.

If true must be the curse of MVC, can no one who buys that business survive.

I'm willing for my credit card company to risk it on my behalf, so just ordered the 20 disc set. Great spot ZeroHour. Now I just need to sell my copies of Platoon, Salvador and Wall Street.

EDIT - Well I would buy it if the Buy button had been fixed.

Yup, heard the rumour about them going bankrupt as well. Apparently the store here in Aberdeen was closed for "stocktaking" today, but staff were told yesterday that it's gone tits up.

I placed my order at 8.59am yesterday morning according to the order details on there website, so if the rumours are true I must be one of the last orders ever placed!
I've sent a message to them through my account asking if the rumours are true!

I got this too from Amazon but I haven't opened it yet. Presumably one of the other films (apart from Any Given Sunday) is a 2 disc set... but which one?

I'd open it & check it if I were you. I received this from Amazon as well & the first one they sent me had the JFK bonus disc in it & not the movie! Got a replacement which was all correct.

Due to circumstances beyond our control we cannot currently take orders online. We should be back to full operation early next week. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. -Fopp Webteam

Just appeared on there website...and all the stores are open today, according to my local branch it was a company stock take and they had notices up for a few weeks about it.

It was cash only in Music Zone in Brikenhead. I spoke to the girl serving me about it, and she said that their card machines haven't been working since last Thursday.

For Oliver Stone any price is too high. Remember the very respected critic Pauline Kael, when asked on her retirement if she would miss the cinema said 'at least I'll never have to sit through another Oliver Stone movie', or words to that effect.

Who cares what critics think, especially so-called respected ones like Pauline Kael. Make up your own mind.

Stone may not be to everyones taste, but he is a great modern film writer/director - something of a rarity these days.

That's true enough, I was in their East Kilbride branch on Thursday and they had a photocopied notice in the window to that effect. Not a good sign for any retailer, usually the sign of more serious problems.

I did hear that the Friday 'Stock Take' had something to do with the buy out of Music Zone, and the movement of stock from Music Zone to Fopp stores.
The administrators of Music Zone had claimed that that Fopp had taken stock that they had not paid for in the buy out, hence the stock check.
It's probably a lot more complicated than that, but it's never a good sign when a Major High Street chain is accepting cash only for more than a day or two.

Still I'll have to keep my eyes open, plenty of bargains to be had if they do go belly up and are selling off there stock! :)

The website is now letting you add things to your basket and checkout now, and the 'secured by thawte' icon for card processing is back.

Still "Due to circumstances beyond our control we cannot currently take orders online. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. -Fopp Webteam" at the top though, and no methods of payment available.
