HMV in Canary Wharf were filling their shelves with sale stuff when I popped in on my lunch break so looks like the sale might start early in-store.
Many similar prices as on-line. Saw Audrey Hepburn box set for £15, Extras S1 for £4, Die Hard triple set for a tenner and the U2 '18' Book Set with CD and DVD for £10 which is pretty good.

What a chuffin' awful site!
In-store today. For £3 each, I picked up:
Glengarry Glen Ross (not as good as the stage play, but still a stonkingly enjoyable film)
The Core (perfect Sunday afternoon light-weight nonsense)
What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (never seen it but, by all accounts it's fabulous)
Was tempted by Tideland, but haven't heard very many good reports so not sure if it's worth it? (I adore 12 Monkeys and Brazil but am not all that fussed with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas)

Tideland is £6.45 at Foxy.co.uk (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://scripts.affiliatefuture.com/AFClick.asp?affiliateID=17278&merchantID=963&programmeID=2910&mediaID=0&tracking=).
I was very disappointed with the sale - 4 Studio Classics titles that I already own and a bunch of uninteresting tat. The website seemed to be DOA this morning (and much of the afternoon) and they seemed to have tried to mitigate the load by making the actual sale DVDs harder to find. At one stage you could browse them all, but now you have to go to DVD offers rather than click the sale link, which only seems to list about a dozen titles
Life On Mars (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p(18710)a(60823)g(280345)url(http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=97;10;-1;-1&sku=505609)) Season 1 available for £14.99, thats a good price IMO.

yeah..i went to the Ilford HMV this morning and picked up Tideland for £7, Glenngarry for £3 and Simian Mobile Disco's debut for £9.95...and was about to buy the Hitchcock set..but i'm gonna wait...
let's see what Virgin has to offer.
Loads of the "sale" items are the same price they've been on the website for weeks or even months. Isn't there some kind of law against that?

They may have put the price of the Spiderman 2 Ltd Edition Box back up to £29.99 online, but they have them in store for £4.
I also picked up the 4 DVD box set of Scotch and Wry for £10 in store, it's £29.99 on there website. Although only Scottish people of a certain age will know what that is! :)
spiderman 2 box set for £4 (which I thought was a bargain) with postcards and spiderman #50 reprint (the one where he decides to stop being spidey)...
there was also kill bill box set for £10 but wasn't too sure about that...

Anyone else finding HMV a little slow on delivery lately? I ordered X-Files S1 on Monday and it still hasn't arrived even though it was despatched on Wednesday. I know there's a strike on but there not normally this slow.
Only trouble I'm having with them at the moment is that they can't send out the right item. I ordered the 2 disc Chronicles of Narnia and they sent out the 1 disc version. Returned it and asked for the correct one to be sent, and they've sent the single disc version again.

They certainly are a bunch of muppets, often this has worked in my favour but when there are several versions of the same film it makes me think twice to be honest.

Once it leaves HMV the delivery time is nothing to do with them - blame the Royal Mail.
Everything from HMV comes from Guernsey now.
