Hi,

Need some advise... Going to go buy some cables for my surround speakers and wondering whether I should get the Cable Talk or Ixos? Ixos 607 is the low profile cable with self-adhesive on one side.

Ratings/Reviews - both received 5 stars in What Hi-Fi

Cost - Cable Talk is £2.5/metre whilst the Ixos is £1.79/metre

Going to run Yamaha satellite speakers (NSP320) from a Sony DB940 with these wires..

Any advice? :)

Yup - good call

But it could get pricey running it to 5 satellites. I use silver for my fronts and 79 strand at the rear...

CT3.1 and Ixos607 would both be overkill IMO, and I just can't see anyone in their right mind spending £5/m on QED Silver cable for a £140 budget 5.1 speaker set.
Save some money and get some Gale XL105 (69p/m) or Gale XL189 (99p/m) from RicherSounds, or the Tech79 flat cable from Beyondhifi (£15 for 20m).

*gasp*

I need 9 metres each side for my surround speakers... doing the maths, it'll cost £81

Anyway going to run Ixos 6003 for mains and QED bronze for centre. LOL not sure how I came to those choices..

Slightly true though when I upgrade, I wouldn't need to go and get new speaker cables. :)

Anyway just found out I can get Ixos 607 for £0.99p/m

I use QED silver for my front three and QED bronze for my surrounds. As has been said, there is no need to go nuts on surround cable as it's not like they're especially active in most movies anyway.

BTW - why are you using different wire for your centre & mains?

LOL
I seriously do not know. Like I said, not sure what made me make up my mind with it being the way it is. :P Anyway wasn't exactly going nuts but after calculating how much the cables would cost I nearly fainted for a moment.

Ixos 6003 for all front 3 then? Can get them for £1.49/metre. And Ixos 607 for surrounds. :)

I'm using ixos 607 for my rears (about 9m each side), Gales for my front L/R and QED original for the centre (the shop chucked them in free when I bought the 607's). I'm looking to upgrade my L/R with QED Silver (5 metres each, one speaker is further away from the amp than the other but I think its better to get the same length both sides). I've read reviews for both QED Silver and CT3.1 and the QED seems better. £40 is still a bit too much to pay for just the front 2 (for my current situation :( ) so I'm gonna put it off till I freel generous to myself :)

I never knew there was a QED Bronze.
