Forgetting the £199 bargain prices should I just go and get one from Dixons for £299
Is there a newer model being released ?
Is the price due to drop in a few months ?
Is it as good as it looks ?
I have one and they are brilliant but all your questions can be answered here (http://www.tivoportal.co.uk) HTH

The simple answer is yes - I can't imagine being without it now. It does change how you watch TV. There's a thread here: http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46389
As Duncan said, check the TiVo forums for all your answers, specifically, this thread: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37326
As for a new model, they announced a TiVo 2 for the US market only I think at the recent CES in Vegas. It's mostly for broadband users, not sure there's anything I want from it.
There's also a new software release in the next few months which will make it even better.

Buy a Tivo.
They give you a 7 day grace period of using the listings service for free. Then within 7-30 days (I think), you can send the whole unit back to TiVo for a full refund. That is how CONFIDENT they are that you won't be able to live without it! :D

Just to clarify, if you buy a Tivo now you will automatically receive the software upgrade as part of your subscription, it will be automatically downloaded to your Tivo and the update done automatically.
Oh, and yes, it is as good as it looks (probably better actually because the advertising doesn't really get across how good it is) definitely worth getting, buy one now!

I am looking thro the urls you have posted.
Will it record from NTL cable channels.
I saw this in the TIVO FAQ
"TiVo works with any of these services with the exception of analogue satellite and (until 2001) digital cable. You do not, however, need to be a subscriber of any specific services as TiVo works perfectly well with just a plain old aerial input, although you'll just have only the usual four or five channels to record from"
So no good with NTL digital ?
Can you tell me does TIVO get rid of the ads in recordings ?

As far as I know it works with Digital Cable. Your best bet is to go to the uk tivo forums.
Its doesnt 'get rid of ads' it records programs as normal, and if you are watching something pre-recorded or you are say 15 minutes behind, then you can fastforward through the ads super-fast (takes a couple of seconds)
I've had one since the day they came out and I couldnt live without it. Its a great peice of kit.
