Just received my copy of Tombstone, if this is indicative of the Vista series, it promises to be a stunning collection. I haven't watched the movie yet, that's a Saturday night pleasure with the missus, but, the packaging is fantastic, the presentation and texturing of the disc pictures is brilliant.
If the transfer and sound mix are as well done as the packaging it's going to be an early contender for best back catalogue release of 2002.
Purely belter!

I've got this disc on order (Play are out of stock!) and read the DVD File Review (http://www.dvdfile.com/software/review/dvd-video_4/tombstone_vs.html) which says that the new transfer is "way too sharp"

For those have got the disc, please post your comments ;)

Never seen TombStone. Is it worth putting on my wishlist. (Like it needs anymore:rolleyes: ). The packaging does look nice.

Go on dish the dirt.

Having said that I wasn't going to watch the film 'til Saturday, we watched on Tuesday night.
I would agree that the transfer is a little sharp, with a very strong Red colouration in some flesh tones. In some scenes where a cut is made from one actor to another the lighting would suggest they were in different locations. This may be a function of the original film but I don't recall noticing it on the VHS copy I have. Still it's widescreen and a directors cut and the quality while not superb is very acceptable.
The sound was a little disappointing, the DTS track makes very little use of the surrounds, but it does make strong use of the front speakers for panning. The DTS track on my disc suffered a couple of digital glitches, not drop outs but clicks overlaying the sound track.
I love this film, and this is a vast improvement over the previous dvd release, did I mention that the packaging is great :D .
I desperately want to give this disc 10/10 but it doesn't quite deserve it, so 8/10.
Still worth owning, but that's mainly because the film is brilliant.

Just watched this for the first time last night; excellent movie. I heard a couple of clicks that you mentioned, and I also suffered some dropouts on the DTS track (could be my player?); but I did think that overall the sound was stunning and certainly the surrounds were very much in evidence on my system - riders thundering in from rear to front, enveloping sound from the storm sequences, bullitts flying hither and thither - as was the LFE.

Biggest surprise of all? Val Kilmer was terrific.

Can anyone tell me if the "Tomestone" that Play.com are sending out has the "Includes French Soundtrack" thing on the front.

Yes it does as someone posted a thread last week saying they were sending their's back and does anyone know where to get a US edition as Play, DVD Box Office, A&B Sound etc all send out Canadian discs

Hope that helps

Hmmm - got mine from dvdboxoffice.com, and yes it is the Canadian edition, but no sign of any 'includes French soundtrack' thingy on the back. £13.60-ish delivered too...

Forget me I'm an idiot - got my Vistas mixed up :)

It's Unbreakable that comes with the big 'Version Francais' on the front that is actually part of the artwork and not a sticker - sorry

Got my Unbreakable from dvdboxoffice recently too (I do like the Vista series...), and, yes, you guessed it, no 'Version Francais' sticker/artwork on that Canadian disk either.

Currenly 0 for 2 Edge; want to try for Sixth Sense Vista? I haven't got that. ;)

I watched it the other day as well and have to agree - this is a great disc :) The picture is good, the sound is superb and as with all Vista Series discs (I have all three) the packaging is delectable.....

I also though Val Kilmer was absolutley superb.

Actually mate I think you have your Vista's mixed up again. My copy of Unbreakable has no such thing on the front cover. I think the one your thinking of is Sixth Sense. My copy has a inch diameter circle which says 'Version Francais Included' printed on the front. Looks bloody awful but for £13 from absound i'm not griping too much.

Watched Sunday afternoon, first time I'd seen it since it came out. Great film, and Val Kilmer is just superb in it.

"I'll be your huckleberry.." Great line! :D

Have you ever had one of those days....

It is indeed Sixth Sense Vista as I have it sitting on my shelf about 12 feet away.

Me going to go away now and remind myself to stop posting when I'm doing something else as I think I've proven my brain is barely capable of one thought at a time yet alone two :)

Unless of course it's just a desperate attempt to up my post count while getting round the padding laws :D (only joking)

PS: Can we keep this between ourselves - it's taken me years to work up a reputation of only being as thick as two short planks and I wouldn't want to undo all the hard work and have people think me even dumber :)

i reckon tombstone is one of the best dvd packages ive ever come across, but did anyone elses have the magnetic security tag stuck to the inside of the slip case? makes it a bit of a challenge to put the thing back together again after watching it :(
