Yuck.
I guess if you are after a plastic mannequin look this gives you all you need, completely fake and OTT.
A friend of mine got some pics done in a studio and they came back looking like this - "Where's my freckles?", she was gutted. I see really see no good reason for this sort of tinkering at all.

This action - http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm#Cspringers_Skinfix_ - is supposed to tidy up skin problems whilst leaving texture - not given it a go but the example seems good (although I do like the original)

It's done slightly too much in this example for my taste - it does have its place though, if your subject is after a particular look. Film shooters may find that slapping a red filter on the lens and shooting B&W works too.
I read that a green filter on b&w film is good for portraits.

Doesn't green darken the skin though? Or am I thinking of blue?
Personally I use Imagenomic Portraiture (http://www.imagenomic.com/pt.aspx) plugin for this - it works beautifully, though as you will have noticed you have to be careful with the effect or risk having your subject look like something out of a clothes catalogue from the 80s.
You can easily tweak the effect to tone it down, or create a dupe layer and put the effect on that and then let the original layer come through a bit with some opacity control.
She looks like something out of I Robot!

probably a good look for porn :)
:gag: Taken too far with that example.. There's room for a little subtle 'fixing' here and there, but to do it at that strength, and on a global level is horrible.
Pretty girl though.

Hate the final look. Pretty poor, heavy handed photoshopping.
Besides freckles arent skin problems, they are sexy and add character to a girl. Fair enough remove spots.. actually was it Madonna who went mental when a magazine cover "fixed" the gap in her teeth years ago?
I prefer the original but the final look is no different than the millions of pictures you see in magazines every day.

Just awful, its maybe ok if you dont know the person looked real to start with, but seeing the before and after really hammers home the fact its changed so much and ruined her. If someone did that to one of my faimily's pictures I would kick their buttocks.

Wow what a great plugin. It works well for Women but for me, it makes me look like a pretty boy.
Found and posted this in the YouTube thread the other day, but feel it very appropriate given the subject of this thread.
Whether you prefer the Before or After versions, if of course a matter of personal taste:

Thats a talent, but a pointless one :D unless you like making fatter people thin for pay.

I totally agree. Though I was visiting some friends in the US recently and they'd had their wedding photos ruined - sorry, improved - in exactly this sort of way. They looked like freaky aliens. And they were absolutely delighted with the results.
Obviously I said how wonderful they looked :brickwall

The thing is normal people would not mind being photoshopped to make them look "Better". I know many people who complain about images they had done by pros, which turned out appauling, like plastic dolls and some love it.
Different strokes I guess, for me I dont mind a freckle, or a hair out of place, some people seem to sadly.
I do edit people pictures of friends and family, just a little, will never smooth out their skin and make them into love dolls etc.. just the odd refinement, if they had a mark on their face, food, spot, etc. which stood out.
Going to far with people you know would feel a little creepy. A stranger maybe not to bad, try it on a photo of yourself and see how you feel :D its horriflying! I looked like Kryton from Red Dwarf!!
