Ok, shoot me now if you want but last week I was in Virgin looking to get some DVD to watch over the weekend while I was in the sticks with no internet (except my phone) and picked up Season 1 of One tree hill to see what it's like. I like Dawson's creek (well the beginning and the end, too much bickering in the middle 2 seasons) and The O.C. (still sad they canceled that :() So after the demise of the O.C. I was looking for my next Teen drama fix (Friday Night Lights is too much of a downer for me) so I took the plunge into the world of OTH.

Anyway, what can I say, apart from the slow start (where I really hated the Nathan Character), about half way through the series it really took off (with cameo from Sheryl Crow !) and I am really liking it. It isn't on the level as the OC in terms of witty dialogues of Seth Cohen nor the ridiculously complicated words and phases used in Dawson's Creek but it's very enjoyable. The actress who plays Payton is heartbreakingly beautiful, and Sophia Bush too. :luv:

Need to get Season 2 and 3 now, and only about £15 each on R1 too !

EDIT - just saw a clip of Season 4, Lucas's new hairdo is horrible !!! It looks like he is living on the streets, and Whitely has lost some weight. Karen actually looks younger if that's possible! Payton no longer have her curly/fizzy hair :( I thought that made her stand. Sophia Bush looks the same ! Haley looks pretty much the same but pregnant. Thou they all look a bit too old to be still in High School thou, thought they were seniors already in season 1. So that makes them what? 15 years old in season 1? And they all drive, declare independent from the parents and have babies (ok. not so unusual) ?

I keep umming and ahhing over this as well. I didn't really give it a fair go when it started on E4 (?) a couple of years ago but am more interested now.
Is season 1 cheap anywhere here (like Tesco etc)?
Friday Night Lights on the other hand is one show I stopped watching on tv to wait for on dvd as it's SO damn superb and I want to watch it without interruptions! Can't wait for that release!

btw Raymond, you should check out Gilmore Girls! Seriously good!

One Tree hill is guilty pleasure for me as well. I got into it one Christmas holiday when they showed Series 1 every morning, and because I like basketball.

It's an odd show cos if you look at it objectively then there are plenty of reasons why its not as good as Dawson Creek/The OC/Buffy when they were at their best. But if you get into OTH it somehow becomes much better than all of em!

IMO Series 1 was pretty good, Series 2 started poorly but then got by about half way through and ended well, Series 3 was really good, the best so far (with an excellent ep around the middle that did a good job of tackling a serious subject through the medium of a teen drama) and Series 4 so far has been just as good. A fifth series has already been confirmed!

Re: the dvd's, I got my S1 cheap on R4, then S2 cheaply from Amazon.com (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/thedvdforums-20) marketplace (around £16 but it took almost 2 months to arrive) but was bought S3, and the cheapest was the R1 even when the customs charge of £7 was taken into account.

The turning point in season 1 for me is the episode where the 2 brothers got stranded in an away match and then one where they all went to some cheerleading competition thing. Before that it was a little flat.

They are starting to spin your first impressions of the charactors from that point on, which is good.

Just saw season 4 ep 13, the one with the picture thing. homage to the breakfast club. Very good 45 mins of TV, I am liking this show more and more.

Have to say I watched the very first episode when it was aired on C4 in 2004 and have been a fan ever since. To be honest I have given up trying to watch it on C4/E4 as they treat it so badly. I beleive the newest seasons is on at 5 on a Sunday of all times. I have S1&2 on DVD and am waiting for the third season to appear cheap somewhere.

[Edit] Scratch that S3 is £18 at Choices :)

Just caught up with that episode, as you say very well done for a teen drama, although the ending brought it back down to TV land.;)

Still really enjoying it at the moment so it's good to know a fifth season will be on it's way soon.
