Oh wow, I was under the impression it wasn't out for a while - let us know what it's like.
Is there a demo on the way?
I ordered it as well. :dork:
Mainly because everyone on my Friends List will be playing Yawnza 2 and I want something to play.
A Microsoft game with no publicity, no reviews so far, the development team have moved on, no single-player campaign ....... ehhhh, yeah, for once I'll pass & take great delight playing Yawnza 2, Dirt & Flatout Carnage over the summer. :D
Ah it was only £30.

A game out tomorrow with no review or demo up? Sounds dodgy but will keep an eye out in case it turns out to be ok.
.... oh & I forgot that those playing it on Vista will have an obvious advantage with their keyboard+mouse controls .... I already get humped on the level playing-field that is Halo 3 .... BUT .... if it does turn out to be good, then I might take a look. Demo is available next week I believe?
Even if its the worst game ever I'll talk about it like it's the lovechild of Mario 64 and Halo on Live so some of you suckers buy it as well and make me feel a bit better.

Well the GamesTM preview sounded promising.
:notworthy ....This game is fantastic....i've just played through the first 3 training sections how to glide , teleport, buy weapons ....Dont buy this expecting any sort of single player game(unless you like fighting bots) ...this is all about multiplayer ...if you like Counterstrike you'll love this....Graphics are superb and i can imagine that online will be very tactical.....just getting something to eat then its back to it.....i'll try and get a few games online and report back....

yeah, ive done the first 3 training levels, and its pretty decent, kind of agree with all the above.
Just had loads of games online...with no lag, 5v5 , 6v6 ......superb and like i thought, a lot of strategy involved ...me likey, me likey a lot ........fave class at the mo the dwarf ....tough little buggers ....
How many people here are buying this (on the 360) ? If it turns out to be not too bad i'd be tempted to get this after the Halo 3 Beta finishes and if there's enough people here buying it, then play with people from here.
I'm really enjoying it, although it seems to take forever to find a game (though hopefully that'll get better once more people get it).
It's basically Counterstrike with magic spells and crazy gadgets, although it's a damn sight more forgiving than the aforementioned game since you can bring dead team-mates back to life provided their body hasn't been mutilated.
Everyone seems to be playing as Trolls which means I've been cleaing up by playing as a Dwarf and sucking all their mana out then capping them as they wonder why their natural armour isn't springing up as they wait for their chaingun to spin up.
Oh and it uses the Halo match-making system which is nice. Does seem very bare-bones though (no character customisation, sparse menus, few options).

Am I the only one who wanted some action RPG similar in the style of the SNES game?
What load-outs are people going for? At the moment I'm tending to get Resurrect right off the bat and then adding Teleport/Smartlink and Tree of Life later.
Oh and with stuff like Wired Reflexes do you have to have it assigned to one of the buttons to have it 'active'?
Quote from NTSC-UK
There have been adjustments / balances made so that the PC players who can turn quicker, get a far more distorted aim/accuracy than if they turn at the same speed as 360 players, etc.
Was thinking about PC version. Not now. :|
Can you totally re-assign all the controls or is it just crappy presets?
Damn you Harsin :(

Looks like the same kinds of options as Halo, right down to the picture of the pad and the arrows. It's basically Halo controls as standard anyway.
First proper review I've seen for it.

Keen to play a demo after reading up on it. Will give us something to play while we wait for Halo 3 :)
To be honest I don't think a demo is going to do the game many favours. I know I'd have been lost without the looong tutorial and by all accounts it's not even going to feature most of the best spells/tech and species.
Did not even know this was coming out so soon. Good review, may pick it up later as it does not sound like a pile of crap :)
Well being the shameless whore that I am I traded in some stuff and got this today :D
Looking forward to giving it a whirl when I get home from work, if there's anyone else who gets it post your gamertags in here and I'm sure we can get some games going soon enough :)

I'm umming and ahhing over this one, is the control mechanism as fiddly as the reviews make it out to be?
Wary of games that are based entirely on line especially if team work is required.
The controls are fine on 360, it's pretty much Halo controls with the exception that LB, RB and RT can be assigned on the fly and B opens up the Magic/Tech radial menu instead of melee.
I think the Eurogamer review is fair, for £50 I think you'd need to think twice, but for £30 (or £32.73 :dork: ) I'd say it's well worth it.
It's a game that's going to hugely reward organised parties so hopefully a few on here will get it.
Just had another 2 hour session online.....it just keeps getting better and better!!! ...fave combo...Dwarf/minigun/glider/smoke ...brilliant

 Nahh, I think people are just not sure whether to get it, mainly because of the way Microsoft are playing it, with dissolving the coding team and all.
Matt reckoned it could turn into an underground sleeper hit of a game.
But I think it's one of those games where people are waiting to see who on their friends list has it, then they'll get it, if you see what I mean... If it plays as well as PC games like BF2 or CoD2 online, then it should be pretty good.
I didn't break, came home empty handed today. £39.99 in all the stores, seemed a bit much with the future releases.

Apparently the game isn't completely dead as in not being supported by FASA. Nicked from NTSC-UK, though I am not sure where this was originally posted and if it's actually true. When it's talked about the team being dissolved do they just mean that they were fired and the team goes their own separate way or that all the team members are separated ?
'We've announced that we're doing updates. The first one's in the works now. It includes a lot of stuff that we wanted to get in for the shipping product but just couldn't due to time. The second one will come out a while after we've had time to look at gameplay in the wild. We tested the game pretty thoroughly - try playing twice a day for a couple years - but we're not naive enough to think we caught everything. We'll be playing with folks online, listening to feedback, monitoring these and other boards, and making any adjustments necessary to keep the game fun and fair.
Updates are free. Everyone must take them them upon starting Shadowrun while logged into LIVE. We haven't talked about DLC yet. When we have notes on the content of the updates, we'll post here.

I have. I've changed maps/game types/number of players, none of it makes any difference. I left it on the searching screen for 45 minutes and nothing. I haven't seen anyone on my friend's list playing it yet, but if I can connect to it that way I'll be getting rid of the game.
Weird I haven't had any problems. It does take a while but we're talking a few minutes not 3 quarters of an hour.
:notworthy cool...those elves are bloody nuisances ...arent the ...:dork:
They seem to be the character of choice + katana + smoke for ADD types. Answer = gust - see one running towards you waving his silly little sword, wait till he's almost on you then wooosh blow him 10 feet back and start shooting. He'll then brick it and go intangible and try and leg it at which point another burst of gust will finish him off.
Well im convinced, gonna trade in some of my completed games and pick this up in the morning. Fancy something diffrent to play on live than COD3 anyway :D
Be good to play some peeps on here as well, would make a change from gobby americans :)
Just after playing this online for 3 - 4 hours, time flew by and it's fantastic fun. Fun levels and weapons and the magic adds a great element to it.
It's also probably the only game where you can be a dwarf and use a katana at the same time :D
I would also say though don't be paying over £30 for it, if you can trade in any games you dont want to play anymore then do that. The game itself is great fun but if you were to pay a lot of money for it then it would be a bit of a rip off. This really should have been a budget priced game, at least to help it build a community.

Started to play through the training sessions, and it IS just Counter-Strike with magical abilities.
I can see why Microsoft have dumped the game, the graphics are AWFUL - they wouldn't look out of place on an Xbox 1.
MS have definitely dropped a ******* on this one - pitched at £20, it would've sold a lot more than I suspect it will. There's a good game in there, sure, but don't pay full price for it, you'll only feel ripped off to begin with.

Not sure if you're a Human, but if you're a Troll and you've got Smartlink enabled, it won't let you target a friendly; the gun doesn't fire, and the reticule turns blue to denote a friendly.

Agreed, you don't really appreciate the game until you've done all the training missions.

Not a bad game last night, was better when I got on a team that thought tactics were a good idea :)
Sorry my connection was dropping out in the last couple of games - they were a rather odd experience with me seeing everyone as still enemies. I bet in reality I was just running into a corner the whole time :D
Seems the demo is more fully featured than I thought.
Q: Are you doing a demo for both 360 and Vista?
A: We're definitely doing a 360 downloadable demo. We haven't announced a Vista one.
Q: When will the demo come out?
A: 07 June 07 at 2am PDT. How's that for specific?
Q: What features will be in the demo?
A: We want to give players a good sense of what makes Shadowrun different / fun, but we can't give away everything, of course. The feature set we're offering is limited, but there are no time restrictions on the demo. Here's what you get:
* Training: Chapters 1, 2, and 3
* Solo Match and Public Match (so both bot play and multiplayer)
* One map: Power Station (which means only one game type: Raid)
* Two races: Elf and Human
* Magic: Tree of Life, Resurrect, Gust, and Teleport
* Tech: Glider, Enhanced Vision, and Smartlink
* Weapons: Pistol, SMG, Rifle, Shotgun, Katana, and Sniper Rifle
Q: Will the demo be playable outside of the US?
A: Yes! US, Canada, Mexico, much of Europe, and even some parts of Asia. And it is localized. We think Shadowrun sounds really cool in Chinese, especially.
Q: How long will the demo be available?
A: We don't have an expiration date at the moment. We'll update when we have one.

I dont think this will hold my interest for much longer, I find the maps a bit dull now after almost a week of playing it and nearly all the games i play seem to be over in about a minute in a half.
The magic is a great feature but even that i dont feel is used properly. And unless your playing people new to the game the Katana is a bloody useless weapon along with the sniper rifle.

Played this for the first time last online night ( saw harsin was playing and jumped into his game to ruin it for them!) and despite not knowing what I was doing a lot of the time and not knowing the maps it was mostly good fun I thought.
Hope to go online a lot more and get better. I always find myself pressing the wrong button for my assigned power. Like last night when I went to res someone and ended up dropping a grenade and blowing myself up....

Shadow run for me is a perplexing game.
It's odd stylisitically with it's weird mixture of guns and magic (seeing Elves running around with shotguns, seeing trees sprout up out of an industrial yard). Graphically it's remarkably unspectacular - it looks very old generation, the animation when climbing stairs is non-functional. It's all just very odd.
I played the demo tutorials, learning powers like gliding, teleportation and resurection but felt underwelmed.
But then i loaded up multi-player and somehow in this odd mix of gameplay it made sense, but more than that, it was actually a lot of fun. MP is pretty hectic and after playing the 1 map available in the demo numerous times as both attackers (lineage) and defenders (RNA) I began to appriciate the design of the map from a tactical point of view.
Shadowrun seems a game geared exclusively for MP - a little like a weird mix of Battlefield 1942 (with it's singleplayer bots), but hybred with the Counter-Strike system of buying weapons and magic powers at the beginning of each round.
I'm still unsure about Shawdowrun. It was never a game I thought to budget for, never game I even considered trialing via demo, but glad I did. This could be a sleeper hit of 2007. It's just too much fun to dismiss. And however you cut it, one thing it does do which is a revolutionary achievement in terms of connectivity is allow FPS gamers across console 360 and Windows Vista to play each other, so maybe that's got to count for something... even if it's all very odd.
EDIT: and already the "Red Vs Blue" Halo machima creators have embraced this game, creating a free download episode that you can get via Xbox live marketplace, so it looks like Shadowrun may have legs.

I sincerely hope the game does take off, would love to have enough people on here to be able to setup a DVDF game. I think the more people that try the demo the more will be interested in the full game. I'll be online again tonight for certain!

So who's up for some DVDF games??? Would be cool to get a few dvdf only games going. Do we have enough for 16 players??

Been away for a week and this thread seems to have died a bit, anyone still playing this?

I have it too, but only have DVDF folk on my friends list from the PES leagues. Not that I've played Shadowrun too much, mind...
Only me. :(
I would still play this a lot more if some folks from DVDF were playing it but it seems to be dying on its arse, especially since McRae and Forza 2 came out.
Might just end up eventually trading it which is a shame.
Anyone who chooses Forza over this is a gheyer of the highest order.
I had a brief go of the demo & I enjoyed it. If it wasn't for the deluge of great car-racing games & the upcoming The Darkness, i'd have got this. If/when there is another lean spell of new games, i'll get it, if people are still playing it of course.
One of the people behind the game was interviewed on the Major Nelson show & said they had completed five additional maps but had not completed the "art" before the game went gold. No doubt they'll show up as costly DLC.
The userbase is already too small to support the kind of fragmenting that happens with DLC maps.

I'll hopefully be playing this again, if I can ever find the parts to do a DIY repair job on my console. Failing that (very likely) I'll have to give in and pay someone to do it for me.
Played the demo. Seems pretty good. Not 40 notes GOOD though.

Offloaded my copy today... sorry.
/Don't ban me.
Seriously, Microsoft dropped the ball on this one big time and it shows - the demo isn't going to entice people in as it doesn't show the whole game, and there isn't a big enough user base to keep people interested, especially considering the other games around at the moment.

I intend to buy Shadowrun, just not at the momment. I've too many games I have to play, and i think at £30 for mostly online play (and no doubt the inevitable cost of dlc to follow to keep an online game fresh) it's a little expensive.
I think it's a class game though all things considered. And I do reckon it'll be a sleeper hit too.

I must admit, I had this on my rental list and dropped it after playing the demo. It just didn't hold my attention long enough. It seemed boring and the whole teleport thing put me right off. The graphics aren't up to scratch either. But that could just be the demo and a case of a bad demo ruining a games chances.
I would play this,.....if i get my 360 back form MS in the next year!!!!
There's too many problems with this. It's pretty good fun but I played it again the other night and it felt like I'd exhausted it big time already. The interface online isn't really that great tbh and it's annoying how the party gets split randomly. It's annoying how 90% of people choose Ninja Elves, and how there's so few maps and even fewer people playing it.
DLC will proper kill this, it's on it's last legs as is. Shame as it has/had potential. Unfortunately to be a sleeper hit you actually need people playing it.

I'm still playing it - but no one elses seems to be. Looks like this will be traded in for The Darkness once i've got a few more gamerpoints out of it.

Well I haven't played it in a week or so and now my 360 is kaput, so not sure if I'll ever get back into this :(
Finally got round to trying this last night after it previously being sat on my PC installed and not played, was pleasantly surprised and it seems like a fun game though by looks of it I've missed all the online fun. :(

I think it would have helped if there was an XP version as not many people have got vista. Would have meant loads of people with pirated versions online but at least its more people!

My 360 just downloaded an update for this. Is there a list of changes anywhere?
Probably should have checked the xbox forums before posting...

Looks like a few bug fixes and nothing too interesting.
Some borrowed this off me bout a week ago as i have not really touched it in ages. Just think there was lots of god ideas but no one uses them properly. Just alot of ninja elves :(
Like someone else said think i will trade this in for The darkness at the end of the week.

Apparently, it runs on XP: http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=40538
ONE OF THE FIRST games released to be played only under Microsoft's Windows Vista, has been cracked to play on a legacy operating system known as Windows XP. The infamous warez and hacking group 'Razor1911' has successfully hacked Shadowrun to be played under XP, without any need for DirectX 10.
Apparently the crack just demands that you overwrite a few files in the installation folder with the ones provided by Razor and the game will run happily under XP.
The information text file that ships with the crack states: "Tired of waiting for Falling Leaf to produce drivers so that you can playShadowrun in XP? The wait is over, because Razor1911 already has the remedy! Yes, you read right. This game will also function in Windows XP".
Falling Leaf Studios had previously reported that they were working on the 'Alky Project' that would contribute 'Alky Compatibility Libraries' to allow the successful running of Halo 2 and Shadowrun on Windows XP machines.
Looks like it was a lot simpler than that.
So much for a Vista only game.

Interesting stuff, but I wouldnt of thought people who do that will be able to play online with us 360 users?

Has this game died a early death?
In reviews it has been said it's quite buggy, but have there been updates to sort this?
I also noticed that there's no extra content yet, so is this dead in the water, or does anyone know of any plans to introduce new maps and game modes perhaps next year?
Early death? Was dead within about a week.

It's a shame as I quite liked it. Problem is now I can only think of it as the game that killed my 360 :p
I'm really sad that this died as I found it to be one of the most fun multiplayer games on live, unfortunately it was sent to die an early death and even a lot of us here who had it on release date sold it within a week. I've still been tempted on occasion to rebuy it but then wake up when I realise noones playing it :D
