Folks,
I am new to the Home Cinema game but I have been following this + other forums with great interest for a couple of months now. I was originally going to buy the Sony DAV S500 Package deal which I know is a fine machine but from reading all the various posts I'm now considering the seperates alternative. My problem is the S500 suited my budget and seperates are expensive buggers.
I am now considering buying the Marantz dv4200 and the sr4200 and this eats considerably into my budget. I live in Ireland and I am looking at the Irish Richersounds site www.Richersounds.ie . Their cheapest speaker package is the Eltax Atomic 5.1 AV pack at £200 Irish which is equivalent to £255 Sterling.
Has anyone heard of these speakers ? - are they good, bad or ugly (there is no photo). Can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative, if from a British site I'll need to take into account the delivery charge. Also, as I have never bought this kind of gear before, do retailers usually supply some cabling for seperates or is that down to me ???
Any help appreciated
Cheers,
Dec..

You'll need to get some cabling unless you can talk them into throwing some in for free :)

For £225 I don't think you'll do much better.

Cheers Lads,
Another quick question. If I do go for the below system (Marantz sr4200 + dv4200 + Eltax Atomic speakers)
will I lose anything when I connect it to my tv as it has only one scart socket available and no Audio outputs. What way can I connect the system to my TV to get the full surround sound when watching TV (or can I ??). Do I even need 2 connections ??

before you get the eltaxes get hold of a copy of What-Hifi mag. check the Hyperfi ads. for half price mission speaker sets.

Am I missing something ?

The Eltax Atomic 5.1 costs approx 255 EURO on richersounds.ie, which at the current rate of about £0.62p = 1 Euro, means that these come in at just under £160.

I think you've got your conversion rates "the wrong way round".

Check it out.

Have you added P&P to your conversion?

Your right Lads, I shagged up the conversion !!!! Its roughly £160 Sterling
I'm living in Ireland so I would have no p+p bill. This is advertised for apparently half of its original price, so is this a good deal for a decent system or not ???
I hve read the reviews supplied by John316, but being a newbie I still dunno if this is good - is this Eltax being biased ?
(It looks smart though !!)

Declan, the ltaxes are a fair budget buy, but the missions are a couple of steps up in class. Richer sounds also do the same package as hyperfi or they will pricematch. the missions are also better for music as well.
