Sky and cable is out so looking at FTA only.
so can you get FTA by using a normal aerial and a suitable receiver?
looking at
http://www.nebula-electronics.com/information/info.asp?Code=0001
it says it supports HDTV, what else would be required for this to work as i have a dell 5100 (3.2g processor 2.5g ram). i assume i would need some sort of differnt GFX card that can output HD to a suitable tele?
Well as the BBC HD trial service is being turned off at the end of this month, it doesn't seem much point trying at the moment. I have this working at using media portal but it was a lot of mucking about to get it working and your machine may struggle to display it as I have a 5100 with a 3gig processor and it can't play it back.

You sure about that? It's currently undergoing a public value test and according to
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/news/press_releases/26_04_2007.html
The Trust expects its final decision will be published by 21 November.
At its meeting yesterday, the Trust gave permission for the BBC's HD trial to be extended until the end of the PVT process.
Which I would read to mean that BBC HD will be around until November 21st at the least.

sky/cable because dont want any subscription service and read on the nebula site about the FTA.
I have a nebula running in work (liverpool CC) so may see if we can get the HD on that (unless its on certain transmitters only)

Well I'll find out on the 1st of June. I hope it's still going as there's that England/Brazil game being shown on it that I want to watch.

You don't need to subscribe to Sky to have a Sky HD box, which will pick up BBC HD without any subscription to Sky. You'll still need a sat dish of course.

so if i was a current sky+ customer and bougth a Sky+ HD thomson DSI 8215 could i just use it with Sky+ and no further subscription to the skyHD material and still get the free BBC HD channel??
Thanks

You can't buy the box from Sky without subscribing to Sky HD. Actually, I think you can, but they charge you an extra £100 for the box if you don't subscribe to HD. But you could buy a box from eBay, for about £150, swap it for your Sky+ box, pair your card to the new box, and receive all your existing channels plus BBC HD for no extra monthly subscription.
Thanks. i suppose i would also gain having the larger hard drive in the sky HD box.

I now get a black screen:
The BBC HD Trial on
Digital Terrestrial Television
from the Crystal Palace transmitter
has now ceased.
Thank you for taking part.
This is on my freeview card that's in my PC, that I've been watching the odd HDTV program on the last couple of months. Hope they turn it back on soon!
