Just thought I'd mention their new album here, out in July. Love all their previous records. :) Also they've announced a date at Nottingham Social in August, just booked.
Ooh, Bristol added. Must be a full tour! :luv:

Cool, hopefully there's a show I can go to. Might have to hide behind the other half to avoid the glares from the surrounding grumpy lesbians though :D

Last time I saw them (100 Club, London) it seemed to be full of teenage lesbians trying to eat each other's faces all night, and the crowd at the signing afterwards was a bit intense!!
They were a real let down when I saw them as they sounded like the chipmunks!

I once saw kd lang. I can only assume that they were thinking "God, *she's* ugly."

Quite like T+S, but I promised myself I'd never go to the Nottingham Social again. Went there once to see Imogen Heap, and thought it was an absolutely awful venue. Very hot+overcrowded, badly positioned stage, big noisy bar, and a huge queue to get in...

Just listening to The Con and it's pretty decent. Never heard of these before. Love the title track and Back In Your Head so far.
I saw them on Monday in Brighton. I had never listened to their music before and was escorted by 2 very keen canadian fans. The Komedia is a great little venue and I really enjoyed it...a nice amount of understandable chatting between songs.

It was hard work last night. Crowd were *very* intense (sample heckle 'Tegan, sit on my face!') and it wasn't helped by being hot as hell and really pushy. As a live band, they've got a lot better since I last saw them a couple of years ago at the 100 Club. Wish they'd done more old stuff (no "I Hear Noises"?) but still a good set. Given that the set list said "UK Tour" I don't think they're varying it every night. :(
Again, not a very welcome reception for being a bloke at the gig, but screw them, I like the music and I'll go and see whoever I please. In fact, people after the show were more than happy to talk to my missus but literally completely blank me. Can't understand the mentality, but there you go.
We hung around a bit afterwards and saw them come out - they both signed and chatted but the fans seemed to spook them a bit. It was like something out of a zombie movie watching them back Tegan into a corner!
Looking forward to tonight at the Cockpit, should be a better venue. If anyone else is going, I suggest standing near the red keyboard centre stage, as otherwise you'll likely only see one sister or the other all night.

Don't think I'll be going along to any of the current tour. Also I don't think I'm a fan of the new album much - it's a toss-up between that and If It Was You for my least favourite of the four "proper" albums.

I think the new one's a grower.
While there were a lot of rug munchers at the Brighton show, there were also a lot of guys, so it's shame your one was a bit intense. In fact, it seemed to have a lot more guys at than Pink last night.

Leeds was better than Manchester - a lot more banter from Sara. Audience was mostly less obnoxious, with the honourable exception of some girls who stood behind the tallest person in the room and then spent the evening (without a word of a lie) literally screaming abuse at him for it.
Nottingham tonight, then I'm done.

The tallest person in the room didn't happen to be standing on the far left hand side of the cockpit did they? Next to the shelf of many glasses?

No, he was at the front, to the right.
Last night's show in Nottingham was excellent. Smallest venue of the three, we had an extra song, good banter and apart from some annoying talking from crowd members was the best atmosphere too. They're apparently coming back in Feb. Pictures from last night later...

Thanks for putting up the pics:) I hope they do return in Feb so I can see them.
Just got this album yesterday. I downloaded it as I read a review and I was interested to see how two lesbian twins sound.
It's not bad, but I'm still not too sure.
It's just been released in the UK I think but it looks like it's been out for a good while.

How gay do they sound?
Not at all. Their records are genuinely among the best I've heard in a long time, and their whole catalogue is worth seeking out - all of their albums and growers, though, certainly not instant with the exception of a few singles (I Hear Noises, Walking With A Ghost, The Con, Living Room)
On a serious note, there's an unfathomable ghettoisation of music made by lesbians - Tegan & Sara, kd lowercase, Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco et al, and I just can't get my head around it. T&S write totally mainstream music (heck, the White Stripes released one of their songs as a single) and yet they're completely ignored and their audiences are 99% lesbians in their late teens and early twenties who are rabidly devoted and actively hostile to anyone who doesn't fit the bill. I'm pretty certain people at the kd lang show I saw at Hammersmith were looking at me and going "Wow, she's ugly."
It's nuts. Pretty much nobody talked to my girlfriend and I as we queued for hours on Saturday despite my attempts to break the ice - something you just don't get with a more mainstream concert crowd. I wonder where all these hardcore fans were when there were two of us lined up outside the 100 Club or Dingwalls just a few years ago? :brickwall
I also wonder why, despite their ability, they can't break through. Ani DiFranco's is the female Bob Dylan in almost all respects - she has it all - songwriting ability in spades, dubious quality control, political leanings, yet she has no mainstream recongition. Funny old world.
Sorry I know how they sound was just having a dig at the gay steroetype but lo and behold, there it is being displayed by their fans. Shame.

Heh, thought you'd have noticed DM was having a joke Mike!
But yeah, as I've posted before I've heard the fans are very elitist at the gigs.

Oh no, I know he was having a joke, but it's a point I'd been thinking about ever since the show, it drives me nuts. I actually managed to delete the line "I know you're kidding, but on a serious note" when I edited my post!
The crowd at the Leeds Met gig on Sat was slightly friendlier than that at the Cockpit last year - that gig seemed full of angry lesbians, Saturday's was full of annoying students... I got some good pics of the gig, you can check them out here:

Theres a few of the support act "Northern State" too, those girls turned out to be really friendly after the gig at the merch table... bought their CD and hey signed it for me and we had a good chat!

Yeah, they were less intense on Saturday than at the Cockpit. I also picked up Northern State's CD... talked briefly to Sprout (!) afterwards.
How gay do they sound?
Really gay, it's like a night out with Dale Winton in G.A.Y. then heading over to Elton John's for a nightcap. I resisted the urge to shave the sides of my head and start wearing lumberjack shirts.
