Not sure if this should be in here or the computing forum.

Having a recent clearout found all my old Hi8 video tapes and my camcorder. I want to now put all these onto DVD and edit them etc...

My dad has a DVD recorder and it has inputs on the front for the camcorder so can easily get them on DVD that way but have no idea what format etc... is best to use.

Also once they are on DVD I want to then use something like iMovie on the Mac to edit them and then put them back onto DVD. So essentially I will end up with original DVD's unedited and a nice edited set of DVD's.

Is this possible or will I not be able to take them into iMovie once they are recorded on DVD ?

Yes it is possible, just record to DVD like you would from the TV.

I digitized some old home VHS by capturing with an EyeTV Hybrid and exporting to Toast.
