Watched a great many kung fu films when I was a kid, a lot of them starring (who else?) Jackie Chan. I've been buying a few of the HK Legends titles recently (Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, Drunken Master, Iron Monkey etc.) and remembering what was so great about the genre.

There is one scene that I remember in particular for some reason, of Chan (I'm pretty sure it was him) running up these temple steps carrying big urns full of water - urns with holes in the bottom, making it pretty hard work... am I going mad or does this ring any bells with someone? Help much appreciated :D

Definitely not Armour of God.

maybe Dragon Lord - although it rings a bell, i'm not sure if its a Jackie film.

I'll sleep on it, as i definitely know which film ure on about!

It ain't Dragonlord...
I think it's one of the Lo Wei flicks.

maybe fearless hyena - or even "half a loaf of kung fu"

I don't think its the *******ised hybrid:"master with cracked fingers"

its really irritating me know as i can almost see it!

Thanks to every one who replied, especially tpr007 - I've now ordered Shaolin Wooden Men (which apparently also goes under the name Shaolin Chamber of Death) for the princely sum of £7.99 from Play247. Don't know what the quality will be like - it's not a HK Legends title - although it does boast a 16:9 anamorphic picture with, alas, just an english dub soundtrack.

While I'm here, any other recommendations on Chan / HK Legend titles? Cheers :D

Bryn.

Arggh - cancel it BrynJ. The Eastern Heroes Jackie Chan releases are abysmal - the 'anamorphic' picture is in fact a widescreen pan and scan, terrible pic, sound, everything. A farce :(

Check out the Asian DVD Guide for better releases.

Yeah Bryn, the Eastern Heroes Jackie Chan collection aren't fit for wiping peoples arses! They've cropped the 2.35:1 pic down to 4:3, then cropped the 4:3 down to 16:9!!!

Cancelled - thanks for the warning :D

So what's the best version out there to get? Have used DDDHouse before - what's the quality of the Chan releases there?

there's this one: from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000JDIW/ref=ase_thedragosden0b/103-7958118-5423049)

Ordinarily, if HKL haven't released it (and they haven't) then the next best are usually the HK releases. DDDhouse is the cheapest overall and if there (not sure yet) it will probably be Universe or Megastar - both of which are streets ahead of the pap Eastern Heroes giv us!

The R1 is pretty bad as well :( I sold mine. They were selling them in Future Entertainments cheap section.

I am in a similar position, having seen many martial arts movies when I was young and cant remember what they were. The one that I am thinking of is with Jacky Chan where its starts of with him getting away in an inflatable treadmill. He also keeps popping nuts into his mouth. For some reason I remember the name as being Super Fly II but I doubt that is it. Any help would be appreciated.
