I got this today and after programming some of the devices I find myself somewhat disappointed after all the hype behind them :(

I have found a problem which is so annoying it makes the remote unusable in this circumstance:

Everything appears to work fine until for example, on my philips telly, I goto teletext. Then I may goto the sport page. Now usually, this one sport page is split into maybe 3 pages and the philips telly stores each page so that you can flick through each one using left and right arrows. I have programmed the left and right arrows and they work....once! then you have to wait for about 5 secs until you can use the same button again!!! This happens on the buttons that switch between the widesreen modes, the button programmed to change through the AV channels!!

Is this a design flaw or is there a setting to change to take off any delay. If it's a design flaw then I am afraid I will be happier using my 6 individual remotes rather than this one remote that operates soooo slowly :( Also, can anoyone confirm if the Philips Pronto has this problem or does the philips operate the same as the orginal remote?

Any help appreciated.

It appears after a bit more playing that it doesnt like my new philips 6305 telly. Is there any known problems with using one of these with a philips tv? It does seem to work ok with other devices but seeing as tho tv is the main unit its not much good too me :(

it might be the way you are learning from the original remote. Theres 2 common methods. First way is pressing the original button you want to learn quickly (and release), the second is to keep the button pressed down until the learning remote has confirmed learning.

If you are still having probs using both techniques it might be (but unlikely) that the philips remote toggles between codes for the button ie, first time its pressed, it sends one code, and the next time its pressed it sends a different one, and cyles through them.

Have a look at Remote Centrals Tips & Tricks to Learning IR Codes (http://www.remotecentral.com/features/irtips.htm)
