I have a Fuji Finepix 6900Zoom and have had a 64MB Smartmedia card in it.

All has been working perfectly until today when I went to use the camera and got a "write error" message. I could also not view any of the pics I had prieviously taken...dating back over 12 months AND with a mates wedding pics on that I took the other month!!

I put the card into a card reader and it says it is not formatted :?:

Yesterday I took the card into Woolies and used one of those machines where you can print out pics direct from it and printed out a couple of dozen and then took it out again. Then today I have had all the probs with it. Surely the machine couldn't have wiped the card...could it!? Any suggestions on what I can do to try and salvage what is on there will be MUCH appreciated.

there is some software available that can be used to rescue data from various types of media cards. Can't remember what it's called, but i'm sure it has been mentioned in the forums before, maybe worth trying a search, and in the mean time don't use the card (i.e. write anything new to it).

erm think theres some card recovery software you could try but its doubtful. looks like its corrupted and will need formatting. it'll either work or not work. smart media has always been flakey for me and when this happens the card is usually knackered.
how you've not needed or bothered to copy off just 64mb of pictures from a mem card is beyond me though! surely you only get about 10 pics of decent quality on there!
