Wow, thanks everyone - that's my first placing in a while. Congrats to everyone else too.

This week my votes went to;

1) 4 - Somewhere Between Waking And Sleeping
Just a lovely, lovely portrait. The f/1.4 is used to great effect here to give a lovely softness to the whole thing, and Guy's caught a great expression, I think.

2) 13 - Hepworth with Efke
I got a preview of this on Flickr, and although this isn't my favourite from that set, it's still a belter. I love the way the exposure has brought out the texture and tones of the sculpture. It's also quite possibly the wonkiest shot Steve has ever done.

3) 15 - forkART
This made me chuckle - it's also a great, unusual macro. The texture of the metal, and the light make this for me.

Another great week! Thanks for the vote John - there is always a temptation to stick in your comfort zone ( especially when my bugs usually do quite well!!! ) but really wanted to do something a bit different this week.... not so different I could tear myself away from macro mind!

My votes went;

6. Danek's Spring Flowers
Loved the colours of this, all silky smooth and serene.

4. Somewhere Between Waking and Sleeping
Agree with John - a lovely lovely portrait! I don't usually vote for shots of children but was totally suckered by this one. She has the most wonderful soulful eyes!

1. Highlander's Amur Leopard Cub.
The eyes again! Really drew me in. Such a cute picture, really captured his playfulness, but also a little sad...

Good work all- cracking week as usual...

Just one observation :)

Highlander- your Amur Leopard Cub looks like it has a bit of a blue tint going on? (Might be my imagination) And the colour is a little week (i know i really oversaturate my shots haha) but maybe you could try it out?

Cheers for the comment. Will have a play tonight.
In my defence, he is in the shadows, on a bright sunny day (see background).

(BTW, photo taken with the Canon 100-400mm L IS ;) )

My brother and I had a conversation about the colour as well funnily enough. He also said it looked a little 'muted' and there is a slight blue tint. I actually think cranking the colour up would spoil it though. Maybe tweak a little to counteract the blue?

Corks! Thanks for the votes, people :thumbs: . I thought there were some terrific portraits this week (both feline and human) so I do feel a bit of a cop out for shooting flowers. It's much easier when your subject doesn't wander off when you're fiddling around changing lenses.

I guess I'd better find out how to host the comp now...

Any better?
Have put a 'warm up' filter effect on it, and have up'ed the sats a touch.

I prefer the original :D

I think I prefer the edited version - I hadn't noticed it before, but when you flick between the two versions, the older one does look to have a slight blue cast, which is gone in the second image. Either way, great shot :thumbs:

Yup- prefer that :)

Interestingly when i import those photos into photoshop they are a lot warmer than they appear in firefox/ie?
