This should hopefully be waiting for me at home.

Is it worth watching the original first, or should I just watch the Directors cut straight away, bearing in mind I've never seen it.

When I bought the Abyss in the summer (which I had never seen)I only watched the 'Special edition' of the film because everyone said it was a much better ending than originally

A hard one to call but at a push I would watch the Director's Cut first and then when you have the time watch the Original in DTS.

Definately go with the original first. Like you, i had never seen it until i got it last month. You will really appreciate what has gone into the dir cut when you watch that next. Plus the film is so good you will want to watch it again anyway. So the next time it'll be more exciting as it'll contain newer bits.:)

yeah but one is longer than the other, one eye would have nothing to do for 40 minutes:D .

And don't forget the two deleted scene easter eggs - for one of which you'll need your own copy of Stairway to Heaven cued up and ready to go...

D.

PS I'd watch the original first, then the Untitled edition, otherwise you may never bother with the original cut...

I agree with Robby - go with the original first and then Untitled. In between you may wish to indulge in the Cleveland Concert and some of the other extras..... "Cameron Crowe!!"

Adding my €0.02 for watching the original first.

If you love it, watch it again. Then, in 3 weeks time when your buddies come over and are stuck for a flick, you can watch 'Untitled' for the first time.

I have to watch films that way, as my other third won't sit still long enough for the DC. :)

If you watch the extended version first, you'll never watch the original.

Could someone please give me an inkling to what extra bits are included on the directors cut (with spoiler tags, naturally!)? Have the orginal and will pick up bootleg one day but am in no rush, so in the mean time I'm curious.

Little more exposition I suppose. Dunno. Ain't watched it yet (see above ;))

From dvdfile:
Many of the minor supporting characters are now fleshed out in greater detail, and like all great "director's cuts," this isn't just about a few seconds of gratuitous nudity or an extra song or two. Crowe has made a richer, deeper experience with Untitled, with the cut material integrated throughout, so much so that you don't know exactly what is new, but you can feel the difference.

I watched the theatrical version first and then the bootleg cut. Every other way of seing both movies is impossible or at least stupid. If you choose to see the bootleg version only, then you will always be thinking if the theatrical version is the better choice for you.

BTW, which version do you guys have? R1 or R2? I have the R2-scandinavian 2-disk version with both versions of the film, but with DTS on the director's cut and only DD on the theatrical version (opposite R1) - I think this version is superior to R1 because of the DTS track on the director's cut version. I don't care much for the CD inluded on R1, and I think the DTS track on the bootleg cut is much more important than a CD.

I always watch the original then the extended versions of my favorite films - this way i can enjoy more the "material-the-director-intended-to-include-in-the-supposed-original-film..."

by the way...
Does anyone know if there will be a region 2 edition identical to this one? (cover, extras, etc)

Thanks

See my post just above yours. The R2 version that I am talking about there is identical to R1 in almost all parts. But it doesn't have the xtra CD and the special cover packageing. Instad it has DTS on director's cut (!) and a standard keep case. I think it's superior to R1 because of the DTS track on the director's cut. Notice that my version is encoded in R2 and R5 on disc 1 (theatrical version) and in R2, R4 and R5 on disc 2 (dir. cut). Both discs has a lot of subtitles (if that's an issue) - I can see that you're from Portugal so maybe you are glad to hear that both discs on my R2-version carry portugeese subtitles - and a lot more subtitles of course (english, 4x scandinavian, french, german, etc....). Columbia Tristar is behind this 2-disc R2 version.

sorry simpson... must be posting at the same time :D

Glad to see that the version you are talking about carries PORTUGUESE SUBTITLES (always an issue with the wife)

So, must look for a site that sells that version - cause when i refer to region 2 versions i'm always thinking UK R2 Version

Thanks again
