Moving house @ the end of the month, so i'm looking for a good deal online or elsewhere for laminate flooring?

Anyone help...tips on laying the ****** would be most appreciated too. ;)

The B&Q Floor master stuff which doesn't need glue is very steeply priced. You can get a pack which covers 2.5 m squared for £12. I don't think you will get it cheaper on-line, and Homebase is a few quid more expensive.

Of course it all depends on the shade colour of laminate you are after.

Try

Richard Burbidge (http://www.richardburbidge.co.uk/decor/flooring.html)

They are one of the biggest suppliers and if you've got a mate in the trade he'll be able to get it from Travis Perkins or Jewsons with a hefty discount.

I'm on for some of the Connect Tiles for the kitchen before doing the hallway. Carpet in the lounge though ;)

Don't be tempted to use the thin foam underlay on a roll,it offers next to no soundproofing, wickes do a good range of flooring form cheap that needs glueing to more expensive that doesn't,the advantage of the latter is you can walk on it straight away instead of waiting overnight.

It's dead easy to lay as long as you get the 1st 2 rows straight, start in front of the fireplace and lay 2 rows the length of the room making sure all the straight joints are straight and the side joints are overlaping like bricks,if using flooring you have to glue you'll have to leave these 2 rows overnight to set, fill the gaps in the alcoves so when you're banging the rest in you've got something to push against.

You will need to either remove the skirting from the room before starting(I hope you read all the way down here before you began)or buy covering strips as the floor needs a 1/2 inch gap all round and be free floating to allow for summer and winter changes in humidity.

Wickes sell fibre boards 3ftx2ft for £19.99 for a pack of 10 I think, for the underlay, they are much better than the foam on a roll as they deaden the footsteps quite a lot, this will probably help the acoustics of your home cinema as well, unless you're selling all that to pay for the floor:D

Good luck,oh by the way they sell knee protectors, buy some you'll need them.

And a fitting kit which is little spacers for the edges a block for hammering them in and a tool for fitting the last board in.you'll need that as well.

When it's finished you'll look at it and say I did that, while you're doing it you'll be cursing the day you ever started and wondering why the hell you didn't get a man with a big van full of carpet to come round:D

Oh yes.... you'll regret you ever decided to lay it yourself.... but it'll be so worth it when it's complete
