like it says... was wandering around woolies and this is what I found. This was in the St Georges branch in central Harrow... I've already got one of these and paid a serious premium on it by the looks of it.

only £20!!!

Apparently these are not meant to be used as toy, just as collector items

They use batteries, light up and make a swishing sound when swung. Surely thats reason enough for any kid to play with?

They're actually relatively fragile. If kids start swinging them against each other they will break pretty quickly.

They also have a different one online at £22.99 here (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1219&id=30372&p=http://www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/index.jhtml?pid=50837292).

Anyone know if they come with a mounting plinth ?

TIA

i've got four and they are pretty tough. My son is desperate for one, but as they cost £50 i've held off as i know he will batter it :)

they have had *one* of these for months in our local woolies, i really hope it's still there today !

Those are nowhere near the quality of the ones in the first post - they're pretty cheap and plastic - but are probably safer for your kids to play with.

The ones in the OP's post are more collectables or 'big kids' toys! (I have one myself :D )

If you get one of these, be aware of how high the ceiling is - you can easily smack it quite hard when you get carried away!

And throwing a dark blanket around yourself at the same time, and then being walked in on by the other half, can lead to a night of "sad" comments, although it's well worth it..

Erm, or so my friend's kids tell me.....

Great spot there OP, been after one of these for ages but couldn't justify the cost.

Anyone know if this is a national offer of just in Harrow?

My local Woolies has had a couple of these sitting on the shelf for ages, priced at £45 - going to have to pop down there later to see if they still have them, assuming they are now £20

Thanks for the heads up

Weird - I thought Woolies pricing systems were centralised and uniform across the country. Unless this is special 'sale' stock with a new barcode on it for the lower price

Same here at the Fleet branch, scanned at £44.99 and wouldn't be persuaded otherwise :(

Very good price - the one in the first post appears to be the Master Replicas one - forget the second on mentioned, that is just plastic trash. If you can get these for £20 ... DO IT!! They are great :-)

Harrow is not far from where I live, I have never been shopping there befor though. Is this branch in a shopping centre?

Its in the St Georges Shopping centre.

31-33 St. Georges Shopping & Leisure Centre
St. Anns Rd, Harrow, Middlesex, HA1 1HS

there is plenty of parking - though could be busy. So might be better to park in St Anns car park as that is on many levels. Alternatively there is parking in the 'Queesn' car park just outside the shopping centre under an office block but you have to pay on entry so make sure you have change.

Hope you get it

tbh if it's the MR one, even £44.99 is a good price...

£59.99 at play

You can buy pretty much most of the MR sabers from ebay for £50-£60, i've not paid more than £60 for any of my four (Luke , Anakin, Windu, Vader)

Does anyone know what the little black stand that comes with it does as quite clearly you can not put the light saber on it?

you should have a couple of little clear pieces that clip onto it.

it's not a great stand anyway, it falls off pretty easy and besides - extended time laid on the stand causes the blade to warp. i buy upright stands from an ebay seller, much better and take up much less room.

Still £45 at my local store too.

I am hoping that Harrow just had their point of sale label out a day early or something and they may be down in price everywhere tomorrow.

07-05-2007, 19:59

I don't think anyone has successfully scanned one at £20 yet - the OP already has one so I assumed he didn't buy another one.

You must have missed my post then I bought two yesterday, they even say £20 on the packaging and scan through at £20.

Oops ;)

That would explain it then, if they are actually stickered on the packaging. Must be special 'sale' stock with a different barcode on the £20 sticker, then.

Still worth people having a look in their local store today, as it may well be promotion stock that was due to be put out today that some stores had put out early.

Trouble is, I am not sure that will work. If they are promotional stock, they may not reduce existing store stock.

Seems weird, but that is the way it works there.

If they do start showing up cheap in other stores though , it's at least worth trying again...

Nope they scan the normal barcode the special sticker is just a reduced price sticker, infact looking at the two I bought only one has the discount sticker.

Not especially, you can pick one up for this every day of the week on ebay (for a new one from a good seller)
