My Philips DVD recorder is so tempremental when it comes to screwing up discs that I think it's time I bought a new recorder. If you have a good, reliable one that you can recommend (or know good websites that you don't have to pay for - like Which? - which review players honestly) please let me know.

The new player must be Multiregion, have freeview built in, and an 80GB HD or better.

I'm very happy with the Panasonic DMR-EX75 I got some months ago. The only problems I had was with a duff batch of discs I got (which fortunately seem to work fine with my PC), and the very rare (about one in a hundred) failure otherwise. See this thread (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=462592) for discussion including multi region options - as Panasonic are bringing out a new range very shortly, you might get some bargains on this in the next few weeks.
