Does anyone know with the Lexx DVD the first series if there is any difference between the UK and the Canadian version in terms of censorship?
Just resurrecting this thread, 'cos I'm curious; did lexx originate in PAL or NTSC?
A UK/German/Can production, most places credit it as a 'british' series, Americans claim the later eps to be German, and the most detail I can find is IMDB referring to a NSTC video.
Oh; and kinda referring to the original post;dvdcompare.net (http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film_results_page.php?fid=2851) state "no cuts", preferring the 2 disc R2 for the extra episode and commentary. for season 2 (.1)
Not that I'd expect any release to be cut more than any other. :D

dunno about content differences but MVC are releasing series 3 as a 4 DVD box set on June 16th for £26.99 which is less than the cost of the Canadian discs. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a pre order possibility but its in their advert in next months SFX.
At least I assume its an exclusive as there are no signs of anyone else having its, no listing on blackstar forinstance.
Thanks, ian. I'd noticed that ad too. Nothing on Kutl's frontpage or Lexx section (released by them? I wonder). It would be so much better if kult / contender (http://www.contender.ltd.uk/KULT-TV/LEXX/) actually updated their site once in a while :nono: their 2002 release schedule was "Last Updated: 18 May 2003"
About time R2 got a series 3 (or series 4!) release, and it's good that it's cheap(er) (you can only milk a series with such 'specialist' appeal so much.
But I still don't know if the R1 or R2 is the one to get (price concerns aside). Obviously there are no reviews of the R2S3 (details, extra features, encoding quality etc.) but then there aren't any for the R1S3 either (which has been around for a while) :(
AFAIK the best way to decide would still simply be to find the format of the source material...
hmm;Title: Lexx - Season 3 Vol.1 Release Date: 1-October-1999 RRP: £29.99 MVC Price: £26.99 You Save: £3.00Seperate volumes, looks like. :(
And release date? of the series, that is! :brickwall
Remember IMDB is built up from user contributions, so I wouldn't implicitly trust it for technical details on Lexx. It was shot on film not video, and with the tri country co-production covering both PAL and NTSC regions, it's concievable that a separate transfer was done for both. If it is natively NTSC, then it got a proper DEFT transfer, so no blended/dropped fields to worry about.
Answering the original question(5 months late:D), the Canadian release of S1 has one feature length per volume, compared to the UKs 2, so big advantage there. For S2, R2 uses 4 volumes of 5 episodes(with commentary on one ep per vol), compared to R1s 5 volumes of 4 episodes.
For the first series "the movies"Cinematographic process
Digital Betacam (post-production and master tapes)
Spherical (negative)
Printed film format
Video (NTSC)but no info for the subsequent series', which IMHO were visibly different. - probably simply down to budget and technology changes / constraints.
Plus there's the need to get that CGI on the picture somehow.
Anyhow; it'snot like there's any rush to find out about S3 and S4, is there? (certainly Kult / contender don't think so. )
