some photos of supermoto racing

Went to my local racetrack last weekend to watch the supermoto racing as some of my boyfriend's friends were competing. Took the camera along for some craic... got some nice ones (well, i think so!)

a friend suggested doing them black and white with one colour because the background, well it's just a tip really and looks terrible in colour. The first one's my fave... bit annoyed by #2 as the head's not fully in focus.

still, it was my first effort at photographing moving things and i certainly got better as the day went on so here's hoping next time i'll be even better! and maybe i'll be able to get panning to work...

How did you do the selective colour? History brush?

selective colour was done with photoshop, copy the background layer, then on the copy use select-> colour range and click on the colour you want to keep. make that selection a layer mask then return to the background and go to image ->adjustments->colour gradient, choose black and white and that's it really. i just googled how to do it after my friend mentioned it and got a video clip that showed me!

that first one is terrific! i like it a lot :)
