supplied with my amp is an am antenna,its not up to much and the reception is poor.
i have the fm one connected to a point in the wall so that ones fine,but for the am theres only a type of sprung speaker connection,any clues as to what to use instead?

If you have a windowsill or other place where reception will be better, extend the antenna supplied using bell wire. The improvement will be very noticeable.

ive done what you said,connected a long piece of bell wire,whilst the reception is a marked improvement wherever i place it i cant get rid of a high pitched whine,which is about as annoying as tinitus.:(

There is interferance from another electrical item in your house. The tv often causes interferance on medium wave radios. Try isolating the source.
