Am currently using QED micro all round for my Kef eggs. Will I notice any/much difference if I were to replace the fronts (L/C/R) with something a bit more substantial ? ie QED Silver or similar ?

Thanks

I believe in spending as much as you can on speaker cable, and yes you will notice the difference in sound quality :D

mmmmm - tricky one as you're using a sub/sat set-up so the L/C/R are dealing mainly with the higher frequencies only, rather than a full-range as with trad speaker set-ups

cables have to be amongst THE most over-priced items in hi-fi....

Are you unhappy with what you have - some hi-fi shops will loan cable out so that might be worth trying....

I don't either

I went to Rayleigh Hi-fi to get some speaker wire for my KEF Eggs, and they wanted to charge £10 per metre

Went into a big Electrical shop a few doors down, and got 10 metres of 79 strand Flat cable for £10

MikeK - does that mean don't bother ? (perhaps I should fiddle with the settings a bit more)

GAmbrose - so you picked them up from Simon eh? Are they sounding OK?

They are fantastic, Mint condition like new.

Far FAR better than what I had previously (built in speakers and decoder in Toshiba widescreen TV)

The fast and the furious was amazing through them.

Well, it's up to you - but I doubt I'd bother to be honest.

You are already using reasonable quality cable - save your money and buy some DVDs instead.

You'd probably find you'd spent a lot of money for no discernible improvement at all. I tend to agree with Radiohead about speaker cables.
Sure, if you are using really naff stuff like bell wire you'll get an improvement, but many people, IMO, blow this out of all proportion - and it's not helped by some of the ridiculous claims you read in the hifi press.(cable manufacturers are big advertising spenders).
I'm not saying that if you bought a pair of £2000 Dynaudio speakers, being driven by a £2000 amp and CD player, that you should still use QED Micro, I'm just suggesting people should keep it all in perspective.
