Right, that's it, I've had enough! When will the BBC switch off the music that runs over the headline summary on News 24? Why do we need a constant pounding soundtrack - is the BBC afraid my attention will wane whilst I'm listening to the headlines, so feels it needs to keep me awake? At times it's loud enough that we can't actually make out what the newsreader is saying! I'd even argue that music has no place in news programmes (and perhaps a lot of factual content), and for me it just serves to dumb down the channel.

I actually like it.
I actually like it.
Me too, in fact to add further gravitas the the headlines, the BBC news should model their programmes on "The Day Today" and have someone shout out "THIS IS THE NEEEEEEWS" between each headline, a bit like how ITN used to have Big Ben going 'Bong'.

They should replace the Eastenders theme with his version - much better.
As for the news music?
I like it - I say we have more such music over stuff like the weather.
Must say I quite like it too... and actually almost anything would be an improvement to the blinkin' awful Eastenders theme, apart from Corrie's durge, and of course, the crud on a stick that was Anita Dobson's vocal version of the 'Enders theme. Just when you thought something couldn't get any worse...
Back on topic - the News24 music seems to me to have the right sense of urgency befitting a news channel.
My addled memory has just brought back the thought that Spitting Image had Trevor McDonald actually saying "Bong" - or is that just wishful thinking and an overactive imagination?!
I really love the News 24 music and it seems to be better and better every time they do a refresh of it.
