Nice review, BTW.
Tron has always been a favourite of mine, since I first saw it at the cinema 20 years ago.
Since then the only copy I've had of the film is a VHS pan and scan with a mono soundtrack.
I got the Special Edition DVD yesterday, and it's really excellent. Finally after 20 years I've got to see the film at its original aspect ratio, with a decent sound mix.
I didn't see a single example of print damage either - the film is grainy in the live-action computer bits due to the multi-layered process shots, and the backlighting / compositing can be flickery, but this was a feature of the cinema release version.
The extras are excellent - especially the making of documentary which surprised me about how long and detailed (and good) it was.
I love the animated menus on the second disk too, with the camera swooping into the digital canyons following recognisers tanks and light cycles.
A definite must buy for anyone who even remotely likes the film.
Can anyone explain why Tron SE R1, has the UK spelling of `Colour` instead of the US spelling of `Color`,on the back bottom left corner of the cover??
EDITED: Answer.....it`s Canadian. Doh!
