View Full Version : Epson R300 Ink - Quick Question...
Hi,
I have ran out of ink for my old Epson R300 which i use to do 6x4 photo prints occasionally... is it OK to use 3rd party in replacements or is it best to use official (and much more expenseve :( ) ink cartridges??
I know this might be an obvious question but if there is a cheaper 3rd party ink company that do a job just about as good as the proper epson inks i am happy to go with them :)
THANKS
iain
I've mostly only filled my R200 with cheap eBay (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-5826355) ink cartridges and they do the job ok. I don't print an awful lot of photos though and I do have to adjust the driver settings to get a match with these cartridges. Once this lot run out I'm going to get a newer epson and a continuous ink system.
The Epson ink will last a lot longer and be more UV resistant etc, and should produce better colours, but then when it costs more a litre than vintage champagne....
If I was producing a proof or something official I'd probably use proper ink to be safer, but for general printing of photos and the odd cd/dvd face, the cheapo ink seems fine.*
*With the odd scare story of leaking cartridges etc

Get mine from SVP Communications (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.svp.co.uk), here on the forum. Cheap and very good.

Gizmo - I find 3rd party ink really unreliable, unless i'm using the printer every week it tend to need loads of effort to get a decent result. What driver settings are you adjusting ? 3rd party inks seem false economy to me to be honest from my experiences.
