Thought it was pretty good this week
Most of Gene's best lines couldnt be posted here
And no preview for next week either
Obvious who the killer was
You are right about the killer, it couldn't have been anyone else.
So what did the copper mean and then end and when Sam phoned "Hyde" how come all he got was a repeat of what he was saying :suspect:
Gene Hunt is going to go down in TV history as one of the great characters, it will be interesting to see how the character has progressed when the Ashes to Ashes series hits our screens.
That's the problem, you knew who the killer was right at the start because of the 2 'new' characters introduced, 1 was killed therefore the only one left was the killer!
Reall good episode though and some cracking lines from Hunt as per usual. There was probably no preview because next week's episode is the last.

I have everthing crossed that come the end of next week's episode, I won't be hurling stuff at the screen.
I haven't even come close to guessing the end, although the lack of preview gives me a feeling of what it might contain...
He ends up working for Torchwood!

Well, the preview of the last episode shown after the Beeb 4 repeat scuppers my theory; and I don't think I'll be hurling stuff at the telly!

The acting DCI sounds like the guy on the telephone -- it probably is him.

Well we've had 15 good to great episodes so far, so if next week's final episode is a complete turd, we can just choose to ignore it and pretend we never find out what really happened to Sam.
I am guessing that the 'nightmare' that Sam had (on the phone in the hallway), with all the unintelligible screaming (I am sure I heard Liz scream "No Sam!" or something) and all will pay-off in the final episode.
Great one this week, Life On Mars at its best, imo.
Is Ashes to Ashes an 80s based version of the same show? Is it definitely confirmed, then? Last I heard it was just a vague suggestion, I thought. It worries me slightly, however. What if Sam 'wakes up' at the end only to find himself in the 80s this time?
With the 'Hyde' thing that's been running through the series I have a feeling it's something to do with police corruption and by that I mean very much in the sense of it being the 70s and no reference to time travelling. Sam interprets those conversations with the man on the Hyde number as referencing his situation of being trapped in the past/coma but I think they probably have a simple grounded 70s reason like he's investigating that department.
Hopefully the ending won't be a disappointment, but it's hard to see how it could be anything else, really.
As to this episode it was great until they cornered the killer. That felt very rushed and unnatural, which was a shame.

What did it show?
They're showing it pretty regularly now; intriguing stuff, particularly...
..a shot of Sam's grave.
Other forums have been reporting...
...all the 'Wizard of Oz' references that keep cropping up 'Frank Morgan', Gene calling Sam 'Dorothy', Elton John's 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' - might mean nothing, might mean we're in for a 'There's no place like home...' ending with characters now, cropping up in Sam's 1973. Big money on Gene Hunt being the driver of the car that knocked Sam down...

They seem to be concentrating more on Gene Hunt having an overt drinking problem in the last couple of episodes. I am wondering how much is being set up for Ashes to Ashes - the very name itself, along the time period suggested, make it sound as though it's all going to be about Gene Hunt imploding as the police modernise. Not sure how that would pan out to be honest.

from what I've read, Sam is not in the show. Gene hunt will be the main character

Whatever happens, it's got to be connected to the investigation in the first episode of series 1.

Certainly the new Boss's parting shot that Hunt 'slipped away this time' sounds like they are looking for something in Hunt's past/future. I did think that the new Boss was some sort of hypnotist sent in to bring the information out of Sams head as he's lying in the hospital bed but then again perhaps not...
Can't wait for the final episode - hope it's a cracker!
I was saying to someone at work. I has kept me guessing in a way no other show has yet, somehow they have managed to make the premise of the show (time travel / madness / coma) not matter as much as such a thing would matter in other shows.
It's really very good and I'll miss it when it is gone, but I'll love watching it leave. :)

Can't say I have watched from the very beginning but have watched a fair bit of the 2nd series.
The other half explained the whole coma/telephone thing to me and I knew Sam had been knocked down in a car accident (but didn't see this episode) ... is there some question as to whether this was an accident or deliberate ??
Also, did Tyler know/work with Hunt before going into the coma ?

He had no idea who Hunt was.
Sam says in the intro that he "had an accident" but the chances are that the bloke doing the driving will be someone he meets back in 1973.
Also, did Tyler know/work with Hunt before going into the coma ?
No idea if Sam getting knocked down was deliberate or not.
As far as we, the audience, knows, Sam had never met Gene Hunt before the accident/coma.

Good on the Daily Mail to semi-spoil the last ever episode in their TV preview section in today's paper
They say who/what Morgan and Hunt are in the 'real' world ... but don't say what happens in the end

Still can't take the chance ;)
Every magazine and newspaper I have read hasn't said how it ends and that is how it should be but I guess there is always one that is going to ruin it.
The telegraph spoils it hugely in it's preview today. Out of consideration for people who are tempted to look I will NOT repeat it here, even in spoiler tags.
At least it's not being shown on Sky 1 who would no doubt have run a trailer for the past week showing the final scene from the episode over and over just to make sure you knew what was coming.

pleased with that, very good.
'Ow's about that then? Excellent.
Please use this thread for episode 7 only, the thread for the final episode is here.

Anyone know that the song is playing when Hunt/Tyler are running away from Chris/Ray in the boxing gym, it sounds like clapton
