Looking to buy a Pioneer DVD-106S Region Free PC DVD drive. Both the companies sell it (OC say they have modified it to be RCE free and region free).

I've used TekHeads but not OC and seem to remember some posts about them being a tad short in the customer service stakes.

Has anyone any experiences of either company ?

Hi ASH, hope you don't mind but can we add ebuyer to the list :)

They do have the drive as well.

overclockers.uk are fine to deal with, never had problems with them and I use them a lot, techeads are also ok, but have a look at www.theoverclockingstore.co.uk they have the drive (stock's low) and they deliver free, also a company I have no problems with.

ASH, have bought from all three - only ever had probs with overclockers which i wont go into, but it was enough to convince me they were sharks and they wont have the benefit of my business again - theoverclockingstore and tekheads on the other hand are a pleasure to deal with :)

i have used all three. dont belive the stock levels on ebuyer taked them forever to deliver!

Overclockers and Tekheads are both equally good in my books :)

i've used OCUK about 15 times now and the overclocking store (OCS) twice.

not a real problem with either although i was a bit miffed that OCS took over a week to send out both the orders i placed with them, bother were "in stock" at the time of ordering (possibly because i chose "free delivery" it was put on low priority).

I tend to stick to OCUK if the item is something i cannot get at least £10 cheaper elsewhere (or it is something i don't mind waiting for).

Ive used both OCUk & Tekheads......both lied to me on their stock levels.......stuff that was in stock for next day delivery.....took 12 & 17 days respectively to reach me.

I wouldn`t order from either again.

Just my experience.

I used Overclockers to order a similar Pioneer region-free drive. They claimed to have it in stock, but only despatched it after I prompted them a couple of weeks later. And when I got it, it wasn't flashed correctly so it now rejected every region instead! However, a friend of mine helped me out and we just downloaded the relevant firmware and re-flashed it.

i have ordered from ocuk, tekheads and the ocs on several ocasions over the last couple of years and have had delays on 'in-stock' items from ocuk and tekheads, but nothing major.
my last 2 orders from ocuk (about 260 quid total) have arrived the following day, likewise my last couple of tekheads / the ocs orders so no recent problems for me.

i've ordered from overclockers and tekheads and they have both been fine, delivered really fast.

I plumped for Tekheads for that exact same drive, only because their shipping cost was a little cheaper. Arrived a couple of days after placing the order. Works a treat.

Never used OC or OCS, but will probably try them both in the future.

Just used the Overclocking store for the first time. Ordered yesterday dinner using free post option, arrived this morning 8:30 am. Can't really fault that.

I've ordered from OCUK a number of times, the kit always arrived on time but they are indeed a tad lacking in the customer service dept. As for OCS, they're fine too...

overclockers customer service is crap, they sent me the wrong case, so i asked for the right one to be sent and they said it would be sent for the next day, i waited and it didn't arrive phoned and they said they where out of stock of that colour, so i asked for a blue case to be sent but they sent a black one:rolleyes: but i kept that one and ended up with a free power supply:D

Also a mate ordered some stuff and they messed his order up

hope this helps

I've used both as well. I've had a few probs with Overclockers.uk and only one with tekheads (and that was down to citylink rather than them).

I'd not hesitate using tekheads again, after komplett they are my first choice :)

i sent a drive back to overclockers last week because it broke. i am going to call up tomorrow as they said they usually take 1 week to repair things so i will post a review on their level of customer service tomorrow.

I gave them a call this morning & they said that they sent me a replacement drive the day after they received the faulty one back. They must have sent it to my parents address even though I told them I have moved as my dad said a package arrived for me last week. So thumbs up to overclockers on their super fast after sales support service

ordered from tekheads today 13:07
order despatched 16:18

can't really fault that

(disclaimer, I was a mod on the tekheads forums)

the overclockingstore are another damn good place to shop. Not the cheapest but free shipping is nice, if you are only after something small like a fan.

A big thumbs up to overclockers  ! They sent me a replacement drive the next day when my last one went dead (I think a power surge burnt it out :(). Will definitely order from them again :)
