Starts this Thursday, 9pm BBC2.
Looking forward to this to see if Tiger will dominate or if Monty can mount a challenge this year (yeah right).
Myself and a few lads at work are betting £5 and picking a player each to see who can finish the highest (you can't have Tiger Woods).
Any tips on who is on form for the season so far, or who is likely to do well? I'm leaning towards Vijay Singh at the minute.

Yeah, really looking forward to it especially as it's on BBC HD. :D
Paddy power are giving punters there stake back if you back a player to win outright and they lose BUT finish ahead of Woods. Thats a great offer I think :)
I reckon Mike Weir for no real reason. As ever a £2.50 ew bet on KJ Choi :)
Just a few each way bets for me I think. Maybe Furyk @ 40/1 or Casey @50/1.

Yeah I was thinking of having a few e/w bets too. Monty, Campbell and maybe Rose.
Lineker's presenting again this year with Hazel Irvine assisting. There's a preview show tomorrow as well which I'll watch for any info on players chances.

The main thing is to not bet on the person who wins the Par 3 comp on the Wednesday.
I am giving serious thought to a few small e/w's on Singh and Adam Scott both recent winners with good performances. Phil Mickelson could be a good bet as well. Will also be encouraging Monty (plus all the other Euro's and Brits) and Garcia. Good to see Justin Rose get a late invite, he has started the season in the US nice and steadily.
If any of the Europeans are going to win I would have to go with one of the Nordic guys, with the most likely to be either Stenson or Bjorn
Els is still no where near the player he used to be since his knee operation but again some one who can not be thought of as a challenger with the Goose.
Looking forward to this, first major of the season, just wish there was more live coverage on TV

Singh is who I am having at work. He won the Bay Hill recently didn't he? The same tournqament Tiger shot a 43 on either the front or back nine, which equals his worst ever score on any nine holes IIRC?

The American/Australian golfer Aaron Baddeley is in quite good form, might be worth an outside bet?
Mickelson's consistency as the Masters is without equal - just look at his finishing position for the last 8 years.
I've won money on him in 2004 and 2006 and have stuck a fiver on at 7-1.
Puts my bets on a while ago and got:-
Phil Mickelson (7/1)
Vijay Singh (22/1)
Luke Donald (40/1)
Chris DiMarco (66/1)
Retief Goosen (25/1)
Fred Couple (150/1)
I reckon DiMarco at 66/1 is a great bet - he's usually up for the big tournements, especially the Masters.
How long into the show before the BBC explain that the lack of coverage isn't down to them ;)
The Bear

Yeah DiMarco usually plays well at Augusta.

On site we are in the hands of our American colleagues at CBS. As host broadcaster, like the BBC at The Open, they dictate what is provided for the “world feed”. Whilst they offer an excellent service they will often not show as much action of the Europeans as we would like

Yup - my only proper bet on the main market is DiMarco @66/1. He has a good record at the course and recently in majors.
Has Michael Campbell lost an arm? I know his form of late is poor, but 400/1 on the man who won the US open less than two years ago makes no sense. I've stuck 50p EW on him.
I do think Tiger'll win, but I can't back him at such a skinny price.
I've had a lot of bets on oth0er markets. A few are Without Woods, Stenson to win @ 28/1. Rose to be 1st round leader @ 80/1 (He tends to start well and then fades. rawowl's fave KJ Choi to be top ROTW @ 40/1 is another I like.

 always makes me laugh. I kind of miss Steve Rider on the Masters but got to say Lineker is a very good replacement.

Got to love the Choi :luv:
Right had a win on the Liverpool game tonight. Which means more Golf bets!!!!!
£2.50 ew Aaron Baddeley 100/1
Robert Allenby 66/1
£2 win Henrick Stenson.

Apparently Campbell hurt his neck doing headstands, hence his recent problems??

Gone for £2.50 e/w on Stenson, Furyk and Casey. My punting form needs a big improvement lately.

so how much did you win on rose? or didnt you because of joint?
so how much did you win on rose? or didnt you because of joint?
I had £2.50EW.
For the win part I got half the odds - 40 x £2.5
Forr the EW, I got 80 x .25 x £2.5
£155:D
Well, my main hopes now are on V Singh winning - I had £5 EW @ 16/1. Also, I had £2 EW on Furyk @ 40/1, who may have a squeak. All my other bets look dead:(
I still think Tiger'll win and I also think Ogilvy could be the danger man.

Go on Stuart, you have the lead.
No, Justin, I don't want to play with Tiger tomorrow you have it.
No, I'm crap with dealing with the pressue, you have it, I insist.
Hang on, we'll let Vaughn have it, oh hang on, no he won't.
I also think Ogilvy could be the danger man.
Dangerous only as far as the fish are concerned. ;)
What a days play. Only one round under par.
Woods has to be favourite tomorrow but I think Goosen could well have a say.
Haven't watched that much of it, but from what saw this evening, looks like the weather is being very unusual, and no-one can read it right. Don't remember seeing any of the majors heading into the final round without anyone under par, and it really does leave the field wide open. Anyone who can hit a subpar round tomorrow could be in with a decent chance.
Would enjoy an English win for Rose, but his putting doesn't seem all that, so unless that can pick up, could well be looking at another Woods win ?
Don't remember seeing any of the majors heading into the final round without anyone under par,
US Open last year - Ogilvy won on +4??
I stilll think Woods'll win, but it really is impossible to predict. Unbelievably, Mickelson still has a shout.
A few fun bets for today
50pEW on Sabatini @125/1
£1EW on Mickelson@ 33/1
£2win on Harrngton @ 11/1
Furyk/Karlson/Johnson - £5 @ 7/1.
had £2 win on the Goose today @ 28/1
still got chances with Pard Harrington & Johnson who I got e/w @ 50/1 on friday.

Just looking at the live driving range feed on the Masters official site and it seems fairly windy again.
Mickelson +9 after 2 - oops.

Well a triple bogey on the first is not too gonna help him much :p Vijay's on a roll, 2 under for the day and 2 behind Tiger. That 3rd day 79 looks like it's gonna cost him the green jacket.

Brilliant last days play. I thought Goosen was gonna do it but it looks like Zach boy has pulled it off with a superb round of golf.
Well done Rose also. His game is getting better and better.

Weird how so many of them babble on about how God helped them. 'Sod famine and war; I think I'll just put a little extra fade on Zach's four iron...'
Christ Torrence is a bad commentator. I have lost count of how many times he has gots his facts, player, or ball position wrong. When Woods clearly went into the water at the 15th, Torrence seemed to think he was in a hole near the hazard. :?:
Leave it to the pros like Alliss.

 Guess that explains a lot, wars here and there, but lets get some good golf.
Did enjoy watching the last hour or so of this tonight, not the greatest golf in the world, but good entertainment. Shame Rose couldn't keep it together going down the 17th, but a good effort, and nice to see and Englishman up there. Glad that wasn't Tiger that won it, once Rose was out of it, was hoping for Johnson to hold on.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. But why are they all +1,3 etc when normally it should be -6,7. I thought at first it was a poor score, but read it was the 3rd highest ever. Have they changed it?

It has been unusually cold and windy at Augusta this weekend - the wind in particular has caused havoc with the scores.
Plus they tend to set up the course so it is more and more difficult every year, so the particularly fast greens this year (even for Augusta) coupled with the wind caused the high scores.
The Masters also has a smaller field than the other majors, so there is less chance of a fluke winner who just happens to master the conditions and get a lucky with couple of magic rounds.
I also think there was an element of none of the players really coming to terms with the conditions, and also not realising how good their bad scores were. It wouldn't surprise me if there were some players who went to +4 or +5 on the first day and then let their heads drop who are kicking themselves after seeing the winning score.

Doh! Rose get's joint 5th and I needed him to place 4th or above as Ladbrokes reduce the places by one with a Bet In Play.
Damn that double bogey on 17!!
