View Full Version : Negotiating a better deal with vodafone, any tips?
Im about to contact Voda to hopefully negotiate a better contact deal.
Im currently paying £28 for 400 xnet minutes and 60 text. I rarely use all the minutes and when you figure in the rollowever of unused minutes I am having alot of avaialable talk time which is wasted!
In reality, 200 minutes or so would be ideal. I initially hated texting but im using this feature more ande more so i'd like to up this.
Now, the thing is here, I have the option of the £10.00 tarrif sim only deal with Virgin, but the network here is a little flakey. Is there any other deals suited to my needs which I could use as leverage for a better vodafone deal? Ideally I would like a new phone and to reduce my bill, to say atleast £20!
Is this possible? any other network deals worth considering (excluding cash back offers)?

Personally when I was with Vodafone through Singlepoint, I used to go through the rigmarole every...single...year of the following:
1.) Going to the e2save (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=422&id=30372) site.
2.) Finding a deal I wanted. Obviously you can use other sites too if e2save (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=422&id=30372) don't have what you need.
3.) Ringing Singlepoint before the month notice was due and asking them to match it.
4.) They would say no, so I would send in my 30 days written notice.
5.) Singlepoint would then ring back and their retention department would miraculously then be able to give me exactly what I wanted.
Repeat every year for 3 years until I moved to a business contract with work.
No idea what Vodafone are like to deal with directly, but the above practice always got me the deal I wanted in the end.
I recently requested a PAC code from Vodafone and when I did get it, they tried quite hard to keep me. I don't recall the specific deal but I remember thinking it was quite good.
In the end, I signed up with T-Mobile.

Exactly the same as me. If I recall Vodafone offered to extend my current contract with them at the time for a further 12 months at half-price. I wanted the Web'n'Walk service from TMobile so didn't stick with Vodafone, would have been a good deal otherwise.
Suggest you call and ask for your PAC - it's not as if you actually have to use it and it seems to prompt retentions people being more generous.

I agree with all the above, and if they don't give you what you want first time, try ringing up again. You won't get through to the same person.
Also whilst on the phone to them once, the guy told me he wouldn't be able to do the deal I wanted but hinted very heavily that if I where to ring back at the beginning of the month they would be able to. I think they reset their deal allocations at the beginning of the month.
Requested PAC 2 days ago, had a call yesterday but was in the bath. Wifey spoke to sonmeone from retentions who said they'd call back. no call yet! arrg
I was initially offerred a twelve month deal, same as my current package for £12.50, or 200 mins and 200 text for the same price.
