If I were you I would seriously consider the new ATI 8500 card. All the reviews I've read have been very positive rating it both in performance and features above the Geforce3 Ti 500 and certainly much higher than the Ti200.

Even more I've just been browsing scan computers web site and they have an OEM version of this card:

64Mb ATI Radeon 8500LE Dual Heat with DVI/TV Out (OEM) AGP
169.00 (without VAT), 198.58 (incl VAT).

This is an amazing price considering the cheapest G3 Ti 500 they have retails for around 300.

If you really want a Geforce 3 Ti2, they have the following:
64Mb Asus V8200-Ti-200 GeForce 3 Pure 170.38 (incl VAT).

I don't know how the prices compare elsewhere.... but I know which card I would be looking at more closely.

Check out:

Good luck !

The Bargain Forum is for reporting bargains not requesting them though, so I'll move this to the Supplier Forum :)

Be warned, the OEM version is clocked slower than the Retail 8500, at 250/250 instead of 275/275 (and some rare OEM versions are clocked at 230/230)

You'd probably be best ordering the Retail 8500 for about £201 inc. VAT from www.ebuyer.com. There's a 10 day wait though, but that's quite common at most places at the moment as the card is difficult to get hold of.

I definately agree about going with the 8500 (mines on order at ebuyer now), it performs *way* better than the ti200 at a fraction of an increase in price. The ti500 outperforms it marginally in most cases (and I do mean marginally, benchmarks at like 1.3 fps higher), but it costs £100 more so what's the point?

The 8500 also offers hardware DVD playback which is nice, and dual monitor support. Sweet ;)

Tell us what you decide to go with :)

Use the £20 off £40 voucher at the top of the bargain forum and you can get it £10 cheaper at £170(if you must have this particular card).

i have considered the ATI 8500, but ive been told on numerous occasions that the driver support for it is crap, and so it performs no where near aswell as the ti200 which has excellent driver support

Maybe when the Radeon 8500 first came out, but now I don't think you'll find many people recommending a Ti200 over a Radeon8500. The Radeon drivers have been much improved since its release, and many people have accused nvidia's latest few drivers of beign a mite dodgy!

For £180, you can get a Radeon8500LE from ebuyer.com and still have change. An LE radeon is slightly slower than the "standard" model (250/500MHz instead of 275/550MHz), but unless you're seriously into benchmarking you probably wouldn't notice the difference (and the LE still by far outperforms the GF3 Ti!)! I'd go for a Radeon8500LE if I was you!

The drivers that come with the 8500 aren't great, but the new drivers are just a short download anyway.

Anyone who says the ti200 outperforms the Radeon 8500 is speaking pure unadulterated crap.
