Right then...I've recently moved house, had the removalists shifting a lot of things including the telly. They seemed to take every care, but something's not right, perhaps coincidentally. This is the first time since I bought the TV in Sept 1995 that anything like this has happened. It's a 4:3 68cm TV, and suddenly, as of switching on first morning after the move, two new things are happening:

1) The lower quarter of the screen takes anything up to 30 seconds to "redraw" itself, slowly filling in black screen with the remainder of the screen image line-by-line (sound is fine all the while), with some bending of the existing image until it's all there;

2) I suddenly have four or five thin horizontal white lines at the top of the screen on terrestrial broadcasts (not yet set up to test on DVD feeds)...

...anyone know what might have changed? I should point out that the evening following the move, the picture was as normal, it was only the following morning that these oddities began to appear...

anyone? Magnetic fields, odd local superstitions, bad feng-shui...?

:confused:

have you got any speakers near your tv,now? could be them. have you unplugged it from the mains and left it a couple of minutes then reconnected it? that might help.

Thanks, I'll try those ideas....but the picture's gone altogether now.
:(

Sound is still on, the "fizz" when you switch on and the little flash of white in the centre is still there when you switch off, but the picture is utterly black....sigh....I think it might be more serious.

that sounds like your CRTube has knackered and it will require professional help.if the damage is not what the engineer would expect to see from nomal usage, it could have been caused by the move. phone the removel company and tell them that they have broken your tv and that unless they compensate, you will sue. it doesn't matter that the tv worked briefly after the move you can still claim as its(providing the tv is still within its expected lifespan) the most likely cause.

i should point out that i have no legal knowledge whatsoever, its just what i would do:nuts:
