Hi,
I'm about to embark on a collection of all the Star Trek stuff, however I have some reservations.
Does anyone know if there are plans to rebrand the box sets later this year, I know box sets usually get brought out in October, and the TNG logo has just been rebranded for 20 year anniversary.
I wanna get from enterprise right through to voyager including the movies and the new remastered TOS (i'm gonna skip the originals, hopefully they'll be included alongside on the remastered DVD's (not a hope in hell!)).
Any advice? I'm also new to Star Trek, watched a lot of TOS when I was young and TNG too. However, now I'm older I wanna watch the whole thing right through in order. *Please don't spoil!*
The box sets are so damn expensive!!!

DS9 is being repackaged in cheaper boxsets this year, and I believe the same will happen to Voyager next year.

HD/BluRay versions of TNG, DS9 and VOY are most likely a very long way off. The special effects are going to have to be redone for HD resolutions... of course for all I know this has been going on in secret anyway.

Next Monday mate ;)
Apologies for my silly questions, I just can't find anything else on the net, apart from IMDB which seems to be a good help too.
The problem I can foresee is this, I'll fork out nearly £200 on the Enterprise box set, then in 2009they'll release the slims of that, at half the price too. Then there'll come a time where I can't afford to buy the original 'big' TNG, DS9 or VOY and then I'll have two different kinds of DVD sets. I know it's all aesthetic but hey.
You think they'll release Enterprise like what they're doing with DS9 and have done with TNG?

Pretty sure that's the plan - although Enteprise is likely to be a long way off getting slimpack releases.
Even though the 'big' packs take up alot of space, I reckon they look alot better. Some of my favourite DVD packaging

Very good apart from the tendancy to crack the inner disk ring on the TNG and DS9 sets. Think they changed the inner plastic trays from VOY onwards so they don't hold the disks as tight so are less prone to cracking.
Based upon release dates and the 1 a year strategy they seem to be using for slim packaging you have (following same pattern as the original DVD sets).
TNG 2006
DS9 2007
VOY 2008
ENT 2009/2010
TOS 2009/2010
For HD they have said the new remastered with new effects version of TOS currently showing on TV in US will be released in North America late 2007 / early 2008 with HD-DVD likely to be first and BD slightly later. Guess European dates will be around same time.
As they are still working on these, guess any reworking of the other TV shows are some years off.
They have said that HD versions of the movies will be sooner so guess we should expect at least some by end of year.

They were changed from Season 4 or 5 from DS9 and onwards. There was something like six months for me between getting season 3 and then season 4. I wanted to make sure I got the new packaging and waited for the old one to be used up. I got new boxsets with cracked discs.
I wouldn't be able to to wait so long for Trek DVD's even though I had the VHS. I decided to pay the extra and watch Trek for the last 5 years on DVD 9 (original TNG release). I paid full price for TNG and half of DS9. I went down to £30 each for the rest. I don't see the DVD's anywhere as expensive when I paid £140 for a single Trek season on VHS !
