Anyone considering having their player chipped might like to try a company I've just dealt with.
I wanted my Pioneer 717 upgraded (so i could make myself homeless as well as bankrupt) and I checked out Tridek (at multi-region.co.uk).
Their helpful web page lists a report on each type of machine they upgrade.
They collected my machine, did the work and returned it in a little under 48 hours. There was a slight problem with the DTS playback - the upgrade had reset the machine to factory settings which switch the DTS off. An e-mail about this was answered in less than an hour and everything is working fine. If this doesn't continue the upgrade is guarenteed for 12 months.
This cost me less the £50 and I would have no hesitation in recommending Tridek to anyone who is not already multiregion capable
