By Thursday they'll be offering films, games and a Philipino bride to any one ordering the things.

don't be silly, Sony would block the import of the bride :)

Is it me, or are Pre sales for the PS3 going really really badly. For example go onto any online site, and it seems you can virtually order one from anywhere(Amazon and Play for example are still letting you pre-order them despite saying we only have a limited supply etc")
And now they are giving away stuff when you order one to make you buy one which seems to suggest they really must be strugging, Also I'm sure I saw a day or two ago in a newspaper that some other comany was giving away something free when you pre-ordered one too.
Maybe its the price because Its a lot of money for most people(Nearly £450) and lets be honest, if you have patience and wait a year or two, then you could probably pick them up for half that price

A rubbish movie like X-Men 3 wont encourage people to buy the PS3.

My local HMV has a big sign outside saying PS3 pre-orders now limited to just 30.
So along with the Currys, Argos, two Games, Smiths, Woolworths and a Gamestation within 100 yards the rush is on to get one.

Yes but if you were going for a PS3 you might take one from GS instead of GAME, which I suppose is what they're aiming at!
Anyone know if PS2 games will look better on a PS3?

With the U.S. PS3 the games looked worse. But they released a patch to fix that.
With the European PS3 you'll just be lucky if they work. (They removed some gubbins to make the machine cheaper to produce for Europe and now PS2 games are played via emmulation. Which games work isn't known yet...)

The games only looked worse on HDTV not on a standard tv so at the mo that wouldn't be a big problem for me because i cant afford one yet,
The BIGGER problem is that the european ps3 have had the emotion engine removed which was basically the heart of the ps2. So I was really really tempted to just cancel, but ill take it from behind again from dear ol sony and hope they do get the software emulation upto scratch because ive got loads of ps2 games i want to play some i havent played because my ps2 died and was waiting on the ps3

I've read from people I trust that due to the PS2 having some really bizarre hardware, the PS3 will never play later games that push the PS2 (eg. Shadow of the Colossus and God of War). I would expect that 360-levels of compatability are the best you'll get.
To be perfectly honest, I'd recommend to import. There's very few reasons not to - at least £50 saving, cheaper Blu-Ray titles and the console is multi-region for games.
