What an episode, I think it's probably the best since ep4, it's probably the first that made me want more more more:
Quick recap
- Saddam and Chloe exchange dialogue, Chloe's feeling ambivalent
- New guy comes in and asserts his authoritaahhh where there's obviously history between him and Milo who is wearing the cool black CTU T-Shirt. New guy tries to kill alcoholic when he makes a quick jibe
- Kiefer gets a kill with a belt and a gun (although I don't know if that's a confirmed kill, looked like a shoulder shot to me... and he said he didn't kill him... oh well)
- Saddam suggests that institutionalised Martha should talk with Anya to avert World War III. Martha is dating Erin, Errin or Aaron, I don't think anyone has read the script to see his name (I thought he was married with kids in the Navy).
- Tom looks the other way and lies, Vice President says he's going to nuke this middle eastern country..
- Terror guy delivers nukes to Russian guy
- Kiefer kidnaps a mighty fine Russian bird and some dude.
- Martha gets a knife and stabs Saddam, she's a hero (I wonder why someone who has been institutionalised has a knife and glasses). She makes exceptionally quick phone calls explaining in detail the various complicated threat from this Russian guy, who then proceeds to explain it to her husband, who then proceeds to make a phone call to Markov all in the space of 30 seconds!
- Boom guns blazing, they go in (guy with funny moustache stays behind the wall), shoot everyone, Kiefer tells them to save the dude and the Russian bird is safe! After killing two soldiers I think! Guns, deaths and explosions, Americans beating the Russians, that's what 24 is about (and most Tom Clancy films).
- WE NEED TO LAUNCH A NUKE NOW..... they're scanning the area (with satelites... it almost looked like the ending to a Season 4 episode when Chloe sees the video cast that Marwan launched that nuke, narrow it down, I see trees and it's night time... oh it's launched *"$*).... except...
- Saddam might be dead! No silent countdown for the Former President (and who would give him one?). This just confirms that in 24, being President is a guaranteed death sentence.
The speed at which Martha explained the whole situation to the Russian first lady, then her to her husband and him getting on the phone to the consulate really was quite ridiculous.
Still, fantastic episode. Can't wait for next week.
Aye, good fun. Looks like the ex-Prez is on the way out - nice to have the closure. 'Tis Erin I feel sorry for.

Pretty bog standard filler episode - 50 minutes of trying to avert a fire fight only to have it happen anyway...
Plus from the trailer for next week's show it looks like that old 24 favourite:
the ctu mole is back.
The first 30 minutes or so were quite boring for me, brill ending though :D

That was a great episode - if bog standard filler involves American CTU agents storming foreign embassies with guns blazing then I'll be well happy if we have more of the same!
Agreed, over 35 minutes of sub-standard dullness with a rousing but flatly directed "assault" at the end to make you think the episode was better than it actually was.
Such a shame, this season started so strongly but is in danger of being the poorest yet. :|

New CTU Guy looks like a russian, perhaps a weedy Ivan Drago? Not seen the trailer but maybe??

I have to go with the 'dull' verdict on this episode too - a siege might be enough for some people, but I'm after imaginative violence, and there was just nothing particularly exciting in this episode.
It does feel a bit to me like they had a 16 hour series but were somewhat constrained by the name.

Some change from his character in NYPD Blue anyway......
Superb episode!
Next week's trailer looks absolutely incredible too

Well compared to the last couple of episodes, this was awesome.
First there was Mike Doyle, a name more at home in something like Eastenders. He is a bad-ass head of field operations; we know this because he wears tight long-sleeved tops with his forearms showing. We also know that since he is head of field operations and his name isn't "Jack Bauer", he has a life expectancy of about 4 episodes.
Then there was the fantastic return of not only Martha, but Aaron too   I'm hoping he doesn't get put in the line of fire, since I don't think another fan favourite getting bumped off á la Soul Patch will go down too well.
Other highlights included:
- Chloe "I'm feeling ambivalent" O'Brien.
- The Russian ambassador hamming it up all the way to 11. I'm all for a good sneer, but that guy's nose acted him off the stage.
- Jack nursing some sort of midriff problem. What is that, a cracked rib? Come on man, get a grip. After 2 years in a Chinese prison, I'd have expected better.
- Jack killing 3 guys! I think the chap that Jack said he didn't kill was actually the guy that the dodgy Russian dude bumped off at the end of the last episode. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, Jack never misses a killshot unless he means to. It's a Jack Bauer Fact, damn it.
- The domestic tiff to end all tiffs.
- Aaron Pearce: Care in the Community Warrior!
Eyes up for the Bingo!

I did hear the Russians say that the "perimeter" had been "locked down". Now, I know you Bingoites take this game a bit seriously, so I'm not sure whether I can allow this square to be a substitute for a "secured" perimeter, especially since it's for a line (and a lapdance from Bill Buchanan). And with eleven episodes left I think there's plenty more time to fill that board up.
So overall, another square on the board:

Jack Bauer Kill Count (so far): 11
Will Logan survive?
Will the next bomb go off?
Will Jack stop holding his chest like a big wuss and get on with the job?
Will Token Totty Nadia do something productive? Anything at all?

I have to agree it was a filler and dull episode too except the last 5 mins. The bit with Logan was pointless i thought and didn't do anything apart from getting himself killed. Should've and could've stormed that place in the first half hour and fill the gun fights with better shoot outs.

Oh look, what a surprise, some new guy turns up in CTU and threatens to reassign everyone that won't cooperate. Is he going to marry Bill Buchanan at the end of the series like Karen Hayes did last time?
Yeah quite funny when Martha stabbed Saddam Logan.
I seriously doubt the Russian President would cooperate so easily in real life!
Good to see Aaron back though! Martha and Aaron, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Its more interesting reading that summary than watching the programme at the mo :)

I'm sorry but I just can't picture 'nurse Flowers' as a head field agent. :p
Doesn't matter how many nerds he strangles.
Also Morris is becoming my favourite character.
Sure Jack can kill you using a belt but only Morris has the evil sarcasm.

Loved (super slimmed down) Aaron failing to conceal his total disregard for Logan. Genius. And Martha: "Charles, does it bother you to see me with another man?"
So funny.
I hope someone kills jack off soon. this program is getting dull.
Enjoyed the episode although the summary in the first post reminded me it was a little more 'event' packed than it seemed at the time.
Something for next years Bingo Board:
Somebody is brought in to CTU for questioning/holding and all the work force stop what they're doing and look aghast.
- Boom guns blazing, they go in (guy with funny moustache stays behind the wall), shoot everyone, Kiefer tells them to save the dude and the Russian bird is safe! After killing two soldiers I think! You leave fat Captain Birdseye alone...
He needed that wall to hold his belly up. Product placement? ;)
Wonder what "speech" they were giving Russia that couldn't be interrupted at what must have been around 4.30am their time?

Mrs Subaroff (sp?) was obviously doing an opening speech for the upcoming Stalker PC game release :) far to important to be bothered with petty nuclear attacks.... sorry took us a little off topic there for a second :P

Quote of the episode from Martha.
"I'm not crazy"
I actually nodded off in the middle and had to rewind it!
What's the betting Jack recovers from his injury (whatever it is) within an hour?

Will he still even have an injury next episode?
Poor ep I thought... too much filler, enlivened only by the end assault.
After a strong start, this one matches series 4 as the poorest imho... I hope it picks up soon as my favourite show is starting to look very lacking lately.
Dammit!
Agreed -still got episode 14 to watch yet, but this one was a wet wash-out.
I sometimes think that 24 cripples itself by recycling characters for the sake of it. Logan is a great character and there is a purpose to bringing him back but why bother with his wife, and Aaron (who we all thought was happily married with a son in the Navy :dork:). It's just lazy writing.
So this season is really lagging for me - 24 needs to cull a few of the dullards from previous seasons, possible even kill Jack off (!), and get back to a core team at CTU who could be wiped out at any moment.
Does anyone 'really' feel any 'mild peril' when Jack is getting shot at?
Anywa, on to the next episode. Let's hope it improves, because it is sucking badly for me.

Good Episode.
This Thread though... the summary's... they are soo funny!!! :D
And where's Audrey... ? :(
and did we ever find out if her old bloke survived the drive off into the water?
Cheers. :)
It was mentioned last season that Heller survived the crash, and had been taken to intensive care.
As for Audrey, you'll find that out very soon...

Regarding your spoiler question:
Yes, he survived and was fine...we just haven't seen him since.
