Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my Home Entertainment sound system. I'm after an 5.1 amp (Not too expensive, not too cheap), speakers etc.... any product links would be great. What do you peeps recommend???

What makes are good? Would you recommend sony? or are there better companies out there???

I've heard Richer sounds are a good company to use? Can anyone back this up or reccomend any other decent companies out there to use????

Many Thanks in Advance

Paul :p

I was/still am in the exact same postition. There's lots of things to consider like what kind of functions/specs you want from your receiver, and then pairing it with the most suitable speakers. It all depends on how you like the sound, when you actually listen to the system.

I think it's a good idea to visit a Richer Sounds branch, tell them your budget range and ask whether they can arrange a demo. I scoured for information on these forums for some basic knowledge (so I wasn't completely confused when I got there).

Check out my old thread, if you want a general idea:

All the equipment isn't ready for demo-ing, yet. But once it is, I'll make a post on how it was.

I'm sure somebody else can point you toward a good online FAQ but if you're passing a Richer Sounds any time soon then pop in and pick up their "Home Cinema Tips" pamphlet thing (red & white A4).

It helped me out a lot a little while ago when I was getting to grips with Pro Logic, DD, DTS and THX. :)
