I saw this Korean ghost/horror film last night in FilmFour Extreme and thought it was really great - very atmospheric and chilling. A good film to sit alongside Audition and Ring. Haven't been able to find much about a DVD release. Does anyone know anything? The only listing I can find is using it's US title on Amazon.com which gives very sparse info. A Tai Seng release apparently.

Having looked on imdb now I find there is a sequel too.

Also while I'm on the subject of far eastern horror I was just saying to my (Chinese) wife last night, that I couldn't recall any Hong Kong movie that was a straight horror film... there always seems to be a comedic element. She isn't a horror film fan at all so she said she couldn't think of one either. Do they exist - Hong Kong horror films that are just that - horror films.
thanks

There's a Korean release of it but I don't think the disc has any English subtitles. A vague possibility of a re-release - Shiri has been released 3 times I think - but the psuedo-sequel Memento Mori was far more popular, and that is available with subtitles from Spectrum.
Is there any more info about "Whispering Corridoors" on dvd (like - where to buy it?)
I don't have FilmFourExtreme and I really want to see it!
I've got the Spectrum "Memento Mori".

There are many straight horror movies from Hong Kong-most of them are from the seventies and eighties though.
Check out Seeding of a Ghost,Black Magic 1,2 and 3,The Imp(the eighties version, not the recent piece of garbage with the same name)
More recently Untold Story,Dr Lamb,Red to kill etc contain few scenes of humour!
Ive seen many more, but cant remember all the names!!
Ill check them out tomorrow and post the titles in this thread.

I saw it too but it wasn't in the same league as Ring!

I would be happy to tape it for you next time it is on - and that seems to be fairly regularly at the moment. It was on last night actually. I'll let you know.
