A recent Canadian guest asked if I would return their security deposit via paypal. Well I'm not brilliant at this technology-so asked my daughter to watch while I did it-and she made sure I ticked the right boxesie the one saying USD.
Naturally I was horrified when I got the confirmation to see it had gone through in sterling. Meaning he had been overpaid by $274.
I immediately contacted paypal (that was yesterday and still waiting for a reply.) Thankfully the guest was honest and the difference was refunded by him to my account today.
I have another US guest to which I owe his security deposit. It would be so much easier to send it via paypal-but until I hear from paypal-I'm once bitten twice shy.
It's a bit of a long shot asking if this has ever happened to anyone here-but here goes.
Has anyone ever used another currency via paypal only to find they had overpaid someone?
