I got a SONY Bravia 40V2500 at the weekend and although it's a lovely looking TV (when turned off) I'm a bit disappointed with the picture. Well I'm sometimes disappointed if that makes sense. It just seems (predictably) to be SO dependent on the source material. Some programmes on the internal tuner/external Humax look great, but some look really bad. I've fiddled with several settings and it's definitely better, but even DVD pictures (prog scan/compnent) aren't always great. The good stuff looks very good, but the bad stuff looks really bad.
The black level is fine but I still get a lot of smearing and it sometimes seems that the background and stuff in the foreground is OK, but middle distance stuff loses a lot of detail. When footballs on (digital tuner) the players themselves are pretty much in focus, but they still have an 'aura' around them.
Is this just what's to be expected? Would it be any better on a 32 inch set? I sit about 3-4 metres away.
