Vid now on B4 and The Box.

I quite like it - very Kate Bush?

Although the verse sounds A LOT like Depeche Mode's Little 15.

I can see what you mean about the Little 15 sound!

I tthink I may have to pick the albums up, I like what I heard on het myspace site...and as for that photo on there....blimey....very nice!

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how she does this time around. I'm not sure the last attempt got very far, which was a shame.

Her last solo stuff was pretty good but overlooked (especially twist of fate). Glad she’s got another shot, haven’t heard this yet but will try and pick it up.

Her new album is out in April and I like what I've heard so far. If you can listen to 12 Bar Acid Blues and Ghosts (latter is on her myspace), then give them a go.

Not sure I like the video for Don't Give It Up though - far too many cuts and bleurgh, zooming.

Hopefully she'll do better this time around, she's put a lot of work into her album. She's also currently doing various DJ sets around the country, here and there! :)

And, if I recall, "look over your shoulder.. now!".. "and again!".. "now the other shoulder!".. "again!".. "again!!".

..would appear to be the primary direction given.

Her last album was decent enough but nothing on there surpassed the lead single 'underrated'. Glad she's got another record out though.

Heard some tracks off the new CD today.

Will definately be buying it. (Amazon says June... ?)

Tried to get the first one on iTunes but it's not there. :(

Will need to pop into HMV i think.

Cheers. :)

I've had the album a good month now, after hearing Don't Give It Up, and it's definitely a purchase once it's out.

As I've said before I still think it'll be overlooked like her last album, which is a blinking shame.

MetalGearAl
14-04-2007, 10:44
Considered starting a new thread for this but just haven't got around to it.

The album is excellent I think, and an improvement over the last which wasn't too shabby either. Getting some heavy rotation on my iPod.

Hope this doesn't fade away upon release, would really like to see her do well.

Seeing her perform next Wednesday :D

Professor Abronsius
14-04-2007, 18:20
Yeah managed to 'get hold' of the full Album today.

There is not a bad Track on it.

Track 9 - Medevac... :notworthy

Anyone know the Official Release Date... ?

Going to buy the 1st Album tomorrow.

Cheers. :)

Robby

Wasn't too keen on the beginning tracks but it really gets going towards the end. She really has got a great sound and reminds me of a modern day Kate Bush.

Great summer record.

MetalGearAl
15-04-2007, 00:47
Medevac is fantastic.

Professor - Revolution In Me is a slow-burner but still a decent album.

The release date for the new album, Ghosts, is around June time. Don't Give It Up is out now as a digitla-download but out in the shops from Monday.

So You Say will be the second single.

Robby

Aw, man! So You Say is , IMO, the weakest song on the album, almost as bad as Mutya's latest effort. She should release Medevac ASAP.

Professor Abronsius
09-05-2007, 07:52
Medevac... or Goldfish...

MetalGearAl
09-05-2007, 11:28
Medevac is easily the best track on the album, but it's quite close to the first track and would make too similar a single I think. So You Say is a good song but is also quite pop-y compared to the rest (would have fit just as well on first album).

Finally got a listen to this over the weekend & have not listened to anything else since. Fantastic album, my favourite of the year so far.

Impressive album, very nice thing to listen to and I walked home from the work the other day and listened to it 4 times in a row :D great stuff, very effetive and hey the more I listen the better it gets.

Medivac is stunning as is ghosts, anyone played that backwards yet :D

I now want the first album, its not cheap anywhere sadly :( even Ebay its oging for £10! after all these years! scary, must be rare or hard to find? or people on Ebay are just dumb as spanners.

So I take it she is promoting the album? any info on where she is going as I wopuldnt say no to seeing her live (if her songs are ok live that is?).

I still cannot see her album doing well at all sales wise :( shame really, but unless she becomes a slut and forces it in your face in a music video, she wont be getting in the charts. Or she becomes a talentless TV star of a pathetic fly on the wall thing.

MetalGearAl
02-06-2007, 10:34
She's been doing a fair bit of local radio promotion at the moment, but given she's not getting Radio 1 promotion I can't imagine sales being great either.

Her next gig is at Popstarz on June 15th, which is an alternative gay club night in London! That's only going to be a small live set though at about 1am.

She'll be touring proper in the autumn though :)

RomerojpgX
02-06-2007, 14:17
I have noticed her posing with many cross dresser Divas/gay men online, guess she has a massive Gay following. Which wont make up for lack of crap Radio 1 support mind you. The world of music sucks, the crap sells well and the little guy (and gals) dont get much notice at all.

I have listened to the album so many times now, its quite great and really I havent even seen one of her videos played on any of the MTV style music channels even! almost no suport at all from the music players it seems, they would rather play the usual crap, over and over again! fools be they as I dont buy that crap stuff anyway.

I must say I would see her play live if she is near me, hopefullly she will be, and hopefully she sound like the album as it must be a hard thing to pull off live with so much going on in each track.

Which is precisely what happened with her first album - critically acclaimed, but ignored by radio stations, ergo no-one knew about it and no-one bought it.

I think next time (if there is a next time) she needs more songs with raps in them, and perhaps some kind of crappy electro-beat backing track, with a really crap drum sample (which seems to be the in-thing in dance at the moment).

Or just get some over rated producer to do the album in His style, like missy Eliot or god dear! Timberland! or Eminem! then your are 100% sure its going to sell, even if its crap!

I honesty hadnt ever heard one song of hers ever on the radio or on any of the music channels, that says it all really and I sit watching the music channels all the time

Professor Abronsius
02-06-2007, 19:29
Real Radio (i think it was them) here in Glasgow played an acoustic version of 'So You Say' a few weeks back.

Think it was part of a British Talent thing.

Another way to guarantee a sure fire top 5 hit (possible No.1) is to sample an old Lenny Kravitz tune in one of your songs... ;)

The Mutya song is good though.

Cheers. :)

She's done a few vocals on tracks that aren't too bad - Crime Of Passion is one. Also Carpe Diem and Styflin' by Square1 but they're nothing to write home about.

Thats depressing! "Don't Give It Up" failed to get into the top forty! thats pathetic, when crap Mutya's 'Real Girl' managed to go to number two, what a pathetic world we live in. Makes me soo angry when crap music sells.

Is there a reason whyh Radio 1 didnt play her music at all? or just Radio 1 once again being the worst music radio station in history, with the worst presenters, getting the most cash for doing nothing? (I hate Radio 1 with a vengence).

Makes me wonder how some artists even get 1 album released :( looking at the top 40 singles at the moment is an embaresment to music, a few good songs, but on the whole they are a load of semi nakes girls strutting their boobs into the camera and rappers who join the production line. Try anything different and you wont get much notice. I feel like going out and buying a thousand copies of her single! (If I had the cash).

Last I heard was after Rent (which she's now finished) they'd be looking at releasing Medevac as a single. It should be really as it's the best single-track on the album and it'd be a pretty decent floor-filler. Perhaps they'll release it alongside the work on the new album.

Pretty glad she's with Parlophone who are quite supportive as labels go.

I never heard any radio play or saw her on any of the music channels either. Real shame as Ghosts is an excellent album.

Am sure i read something about a competition where the fans done a video and it was to be for Medevac.

Will try and find it again.

Cheers. :)

Some guy knocked up a video as part of his video / editing portfolio (I believe) but it was a bit cack.

I knew it was an odd song, but backwards it accttually isnt bad at all :D
Now you can hear some words, as a lot of it was recorded backwards to start with.

Ghosts - backwards!

I am reading she has a new EP out soon, kind of. Still no gigs and no new album mind you :(

Hadn't heard anything of an EP release, where did you hear that? Are you thinking of the Styfling EP out by Square1, which she performs on?

Must be that one. She's been dropped by Parlophone though.

It's a shame as Ghosts was a great album. The problem was promoting her really; I remember her on Loose Women, but the focus of the interview was her being an ex-Sugababe, and a few others were similar, rather than a 'new Kate Bush' angle or quirky pop star as the artwork/first video suggested. And the touring amounted to DJ sets in gay clubs? Plus, personally I though So You Say was a very weak single. Can't really see where she's going to go from here.

Love both her albums!

CBB may need a new housemate!:suspect:

Yeah it must be that Styfling song :)

and as for her being dropped it is insanity really, when so much crap is in the charts! they support any slapper who can barley sing at all, yet someone with some talent who doesnt stick her boobs in every lads mag gets bugger all album sales. Crackers.

I guess she has to do the celeb thing next time to sell albums and slag herself around like all the other pop tarts. Big brother indeed, any looser gets on that show it seems and they come out heros of the world and get new albums done instantly.

I think the point being made is if you want a surge of popularity then you go on a celebrity show or release a sex tape to the NOTW.

He picked out BB specifically and to my knowledge no one on CBB has ever gone on to releasing an album as soon as they've left the house.
The only records ever released from the show are one off singles from the main show.
It's just a typical rant from the "my act is far more worthy than yours because they write their own songs and didn't come off the back of a reality show" brigade!

Donaghy had **** loads of money spent on her, with advertisements for her album all over newspapers and magazines.
Single videos also appeared on numerous occasions on music channels and she was championed by websites and blogs after PR people (more money spent) got her music in their hands.
At the end of the day not enough people cared about her music to make her record company waste more cash.

Haha her album voted most underrated album of the year by some folk

I never knew but her album has some major problems, like the people who made the cd had a few thousands pressed with none of her music on the cd, they stuck someone elses on it :notworthy and they were sent to shops  and sold to the public :cuckoo: quality control, you gotta love it

I was listening to this album today....very very good. She really does need to be picked up by another label.

She did vocals on a single recently, but I forget the name of the band. Anyone?

From what she says on that link, she never will be doing another album :( well alone anyway (other artists etc,, she will work with I guess) guess no one wants to take the chance on another non seller album. Which sucks a bit.

Still she got 2 albums out, both crackers, which is more than most ever do.

I have had some cd's like that, but I knew they were wrong, if you have not heard them before who is to say you will ever clock on.

Damn shame she will not release any more solo stuff. Maybe once she does some collaborations, a label will offer her a contract that will suit. :)

It's a real shame. I'm a definite fan and I love both of her albums, Ghosts is a brilliant record.

Critically loved, panned by the public - same story for a lot of artists really.

Panned is a strong word, "ignored" is probably a better fit.

Looking on the brightside, once the royalties dry up, hopefully she'll turn to modelling & getting her baps out in Nuts. ;)

I could only find those other tracks on Youtube though...
