Anyone else picked up the new Trans Am album? I was fan of Futureworld in the end, though it had a few duff moments, so when I was out buying on Sunday I decided to pick this one up too and how glad I am.
The sound's something like driving analogue keyboards, electronic bleeps and the occasional vocals/guitars over some TRULY GREAT drumming. This guy can PLAY. I've heard that at one gig for the final song he flipped the cymbals upside down and filled them with lighter fluid and then played with them on fire. I have no idea if this is true but it should be! :D
As far as 'crossover' acts go I can see this appealing to the hardcore mathrockers like me and also to people like Basement Jaxx fans...well maybe. Certainly I can imagine this album being great accompaniment to any session down the gym thanks to the pounding rhythms.
It's great. Get it.
